What should I be looking for ?
Discussion
Hi Chaps
I am about to begin a search for a S1 Aero and would like to know if there are any particular issues which I should be looking out for.
I have been doing some homework by reading posts on this forum and talkmorgan, where apart from early hood seals, there doesn't seem to be any common problem areas, but Hey, you guys live with the cars.
Any pointers would be really helpful.

Check for flat battery - the batteries in S1's may be on the way out at 6 years. Having said that if properly conditioned they last a long time.
Check tyres and wheelrims for wear and tear.
Check it's service history, and talk to owners on here and TM for an opinion on a car as it could well have belonged to someone who can tell you about it.
Check the tyre sensor computer in the middle of the car is working. Should show 4 black blobs to indicate all 4 sensors present.
Make sure the heated window work.
Check the leather glovebox is with the car. (mulberry case that straps into the dash)
Additions to cars that are nice to have - though these are all things owners will ahve added at extra cost (and you can do these to an S1 too) :
Quickshift gear linkage (basically a shorter chrome headed gearstick).
Sports exhaust. Rear twins on the S1 are the loudest.
There is an aftermarket fuel filler from simmonds - makes it easier to fill with petrol.
Mota Lita wheel + chrome steering wheel boss (ideally trimmerd in car interior leather).
