LS7 engine in a Morgan
Discussion
Some years ago I had a ride in a Morgan plus 8 so it caught my attention when US car magazine Road & Track published this article about a Morgan fitted with Corvette LS7 engine and GM powertrain.
11.7 at 123.2 is seriously quick; if you can hang on!
Full acknowledgement to Road & Track magazine. There's often more on their website at www.roadandtrack.com

Yeah I'd love to see that engine in an Aero 8. Maybe one day...
The LS2 project was launched in 2005 as an initiative of Alan Garnett, the officers of the Company and the then board of directors/shareholders. The 2005 experiences with the US and BMW suggested a compliant trad was imperative and quickly. It was hoped that the Aero Series I chassis, almost compliant already and the only Aero with some trad dimensions (bulkhead back), could be used as a shortcut. The effort culminated in a slick immensely powerful working proto-type ready for trad bodying by the late fall of 2006. The target was to produce a profitable V8 at the 40k GBP range with more powerful versions (with tuned LS7s bhp]) up to 55K. As Tiger Racing (Tom Holfelder) has shown, LS7 power cradled in an Aero chassis makes for a devastingly fast package.
There was a surprise. Along with this proto-type came an offer from the supplier/developer to finance all the costs of completing the chassis as a trad and pay for all the costs of government compliancy..at no risk to the Works. However, by this time, another administration was in charge at the MMC and the offer was refused. The proto-car was paid for, picked up and has not been seen since.
I do not want to excite you guys too much, but a friend of mine (who is off shore at the moment) mentioned that his boss has a morgan with a chevy v8 in it. The details are tentative but he is back in 3 weeks time. I'll get on to him and find out for sure whether this is true. If it is, it could be the prototype mentioned above.
