Hillclimbing/Sprinting
Discussion
Hi folks! First of all good morning. My first Mog Related post!
Getting the engine rebuilt for my/my sisters 4/4, a car which has been in our family for years. Parents used to sprint/hillclimb/race it.
I am unsure what class they used to compete in. I think it was road class, standard cars, but I know she had a few mods. Telescopic dampers, and Twin Webber 40's are the most obvious.
What class is this? Class A, 2, 1400-1800cc? Or are there other categories for classics?
I am looking at doing some Sprinting/Hillclimbing next year, Need the Engine in good health. Rebuild. Are there any mods, like a bottom end balance that I can get done? Pistons, head work? I know cars had had this done (Well I dont reakon the Twin 40's were standard, but it passed scrutineering every time in that class) when my parents competed, (late 80's) what happens these days?

Absolutely right sdws, It was.
I believe there might even be some morgan class records it still holds. Doune Hill climb I think.
I have looked on the website and found the class I think it competed in. I now need to track down the records my Dad claims it used to hold
I look forward to when its running properly, and I hope to bring the overal condition up, it does need some bits and pieces, but its a long term car. Been in my family since 1983, and I/my sister are not letting it go.
Rebuilt from a written off chassis originally!!

Have a look here:

For our championship, you need to be a member of the Morgan Sports car club. Basically, you need a car, race suit and helmet which need to be in accordance with current MSA blue book rules. You also need an MSA licence, about 35 quid. It is great fun, the MSCC sprinters are a good friendly bunch : I know, I am one of them!

Thanks Grey,
I have my membership already, and hope to maybe tag along to some mog events next year, depending on engine rebuilds, state of tune, house sale, house purchase, house move, and the other 5000 million things that wait until you are busy to assert themselves
I remember as a kid with Mum and Dad the scene being friendly. I have fond memories of the weekends in the camper, having towed the morgan to a track, only to see dad stuff it! (Not that often, but it did happen, thank god he wont be reading this!!)
