Morgan day at brooklands is not a MSCC, or local MOG event, but arranged by the Brookland museum.

lots of Morgans there last, see the front page of the Brookland web site.

http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/

plus you get a chance to drive up The Hill, and around a bit of the banking.

Start time 10:00

A11OGE red 4/4 4 seater

Yep - was there in the pm with the light blue s1 Aero parked up in the middle.

Didn't sign up for the test hill, and having seen it I'm glad I didn't -surface looked bloody awful!

Did get some pics of the napier railton running though and some video too, so will try and put that together later in the week when I have time. Great to see the enthusiasm on the crew of old boys (and ladies) getting it up and running. And the smell - wow - most evocative. Can't believe the guts of the drivers hurling it round the rough banking at brooklands at an average speed of 150mph...

I drove The Hill 3 times. My son aged 11, thought that was the best part of the day, especailly after he asked to go quicker the 3rd time, and i drove up to 4500 rph.

The Napier was very impressive, i can not imagine doing 150 in that 70 years ago.

Was it really that grassy bank with the white rails along side? Looked pretty unstable to me with all the grass growing up through it....

Get any photos? I'll post some up here later.

Yes Mr Tony - it was that concrete slope with grass between the sections. It started at 1 in 8 then went gradually upto 1 in 4 I belive. It was not easy to walk up or down.

The hill marshall told me that it orginally used in the 1920s and 30s for hill start tests. That must have been hard in a Austin Seven. I'm not even sure it would have got to the top. My father's Austin always struggeled on Butser Hill in Sussex.

you ahve to host them elsewhere then link to them (info shown in 'formtting help link' when you post.

Flikr / Photobox are usually good for free hosting...

Good work on the hillclimb - it looked rather intimidating! Good to know that other cars made it up there, maybe I'll give it a shot next time smile

Felt sad that mine was the only Aero 8 to try the Test Hill - electrifying none the less! Actually became airborne at the top on the third run - WONDERFUL!!!

Are yatchsman - you certainly put a lot into it, and left plenty on the road.

I was the red 4 seater that you were going to follow up the hill, but i thought you might like to show the way.

mr. tony - I see you get around, as I saw you had posted something on the TalkMog site. Do you MOGTALK?

It is a same we can not post photos on here.

When setting up perferences for pistonheads it allows you to import a photo. Does anyone know where that one goes?

Last year they would not let the Aero's up the hill as they said they were too low.

And TBH the condition of the hill is/was pretty poor with some serious miss-matches in the heights of the concrete slabs that make it up.

It all ended with a mint +8 dropping a "U" bolt and crashing & dragging the body on to the floor about 1/2 way up. The recovery truck had to back up the slope to rescue it!!!
