SNCF run a motorail service to southern France that I want to use later in the year. They List Morgan Aero 8, Plus 8 and Roadster V6 as cars that meets their criteria for the Motorail but they have put a minimum ground clearance stipulation on my Marcos (which they have never heard of) of 10cm. Can someone please let me know what your normal ground clearance on either the Morgan Aero 8, Plus 8 or Roadster V6 is?

Many thanks

Right Heights & Distances as follows.... NB - Car empty. No luggage & Driver or passanger. Also it's a 2003 S1 Aero 8.

Lowest Front Section - Splitter

Height from Ground - 13cm
Distance from leading edge of front wheels - 40cm - as this will affect approach angle.

Lowest Centre Section - Under where the doors are

Height from ground - 10.5cm - Due to exhaust silencers hanging slightly lower.

Lowest section overall - Sump

Height from ground - 8.5-9cm - Although in direct alignment with wheels so ok over full width speed bumps.

Be careful Funky. As you are seeing, there are 3-4 Morgan Aero owners here who have very short fuses on anything they don't want to hear. That is why this forum has become so inactive.

If you stay here, try to make a mental list of all subjects and opinions they dislike and steer clear of them.

Err James - not sure where you got that idea from (or even who you are - not a mod to my limited knowledge?!) Rest assured however that Aeroman and Funky are well aquainted, and that Aeroman being suprised (or cheeky as he is here) is nothing to get in a lather about...

As someone who has posted on PH for at least 5 eyars and on this specific board since it was first opened, I think you are getting your kecks in a twist over nothing..

As you were everyone - and don't forget to join the sidepipe squadron! smile

Hello James (or whoever you are) wavey

My old Mum used to say, and still does, "If you have nothing useful to say, say nothing."

Ooh also just remembered another cliche' that applies.

"Best keep your mouth closed and let people think you're a fool, rather than open it and prove them right." wink

As per Mr_Tony - as you were everyone.

Hi Boshly, (is that your first name or second?)

Helpful responses such as that above is your trademark. You obviously misquoted your old Mum. She apparently said "If you don't agree with my dear little Boshly, say nothing (or else)". wink

As you can see Funky took it in the spirit in which it was meant and replied accordingly. With only 13 posts on this forum to your name, it could be that you have other aliases wink, maybe you should try harder to keep this group active?

However, it strikes me that your attitude reminds me of one of those marvellous old Punch cartoons in which every last detail is painstakingly explained. A devoted mother (yours?) is looking proudly on at a military parade as her son's platoon marches past: "There's my boy, he's the only one in step!"

Sidepipes rule...

Firstly, before I snipe back let me say at least your taking it in relatively good spirit as that makes the whole game more fun this time.

Secondly, you mention "helpful responses" - I refer the learned gentleman to your first contribution on this topic:

Very helpful indeed clap You chose to make a scarcastic unnecessary comment without knowing all the facts. Not for the first time...

And lastly, "3-4 Aero owners" who disagree with you on Aero subjects, but you, who have refused to provide any info of current or previous Aero ownership (Never owned one? though I believe you may run a couple of trads??), must be correct and all knowing?

Adios Amigo, see you again here or elsewhere bandit

I don't know the morgan forum seems a little bit odd lately. I smell a troll. I'm not specifically saying bartell but somethings not right and no other areas on ph are quite like it. I say ignore and just like aeroman said anyone who wants to get their knickers in a twist let them as everyone else here is chilled right out smile

Boshly and Aeroman,

You form a quick attack team together on everything. Are you family by any chance?

As you can see each time you pore over my profile, I have been a member of this forum for almost 7 years or longer than both of you combined. On that basis, it is I who should be greatly suspicious of you rather than you of me. rotate

I also understand from you both that it is number of posts that are important which makes Aeroman 1/3 the person that Boshly is. rolleyes

Bashly, you are obviously eager for much more information about me. I would normally find that flattering and would send over blood type, shoe size, home phone, children and wives but have surmised you only want more to bash more.

In your cases, why not use your real names as I do. Handles are the accepted internet format used to hide identities, not reveal them. Your confusing murmurs that I could be one of many other people (who obviously displease you as well) are silly. If that was the case, I would have simply called myself "Aeroman" or "Superman" or something like that when I joined here many years in worried anticipation of your arrival years later.

I do like tech talk and there is far more of that elsewhere. Try me at Yahoo on the Land Rover group, a good self-help bunch. I post there regularly for the last decade.

"Bashly", oh my, you must be so pleased with yourself about that one clap

I will ignore all the other petty stuff as Funky is probably right, this just spoils the forum!

What I will say, which is a lot more relevant, is that the info I ask you for is not the irrelevant (to us) info you quote above but a little bit of understanding of where you bring your opinions from.

I will, for example, always take more notice of a post on Land Rovers from a Land Rover owner (past or present) than from someone who has never owned one .

Simple logic really, isnt it?

You sadly paint your imagined devils in colors that fit your hopes and attacks rather than reality.

I do own and have owned many fun cars including a number of Morgans with an Aero 8 amongst them (sold that one after 4 months).

A comment from a mechanically oriented person is far more pertinent than the pompous nonsense one gets from some owners at times. How many of the people who pay to work on your car has a car like yours of their own? If not, why do you trust them..and if you know so much, why do you need them?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Bartell, for your own good I am going to put you on the straight and narrow. It pains me to say it, but you have made a complete laughing stock of yourself in this thread.

Firstly, it's not a good idea to wander into web forums and warn posters about other posters. Especially when you do not personally know those people, and when it's quite likely they all know each other already. Such behaviour elicits pretty strong reactions, although on my part I've found it highly funny.

Secondly - your juvenile responses to Boshly et al demean you and ultimately present you not as some kind of respected retired Morgan Enthusiast made good and living in France, but a 12 year old with nothing better to do in the holidays. I guess given your post count it will be difficult to know if you have dissapeared or not(!), however I'm currently laying money that after the schools go back your posts will subside.

Finally I would point out for your edification that membership of an organisation is all very well, but contribution to a community is what counts in the real world. Your naieve comments and derisory attempts at what can only be descibed as 'willy waving' (REF "I've been a member 7 years&quotwink made me laugh out loud. rofl Thanks for the entertainment!! biggrin Unfortunately that is just another detail which means I (and I'm sure the neutrals eating their ) justly suspect that the only car you have owned is of the Matchbox variety. wink

Overall consider the impression you are making and perhaps reconsider your attitude? We're all reasonable types here and get along very well in the other locations where we congregate, so it's obvious to us that it is your presence causing the friction in this case.

I'd like you to pull back from the edge at this point, admit that you have behaved somewhat innapropriately, and prove me wrong regarding your age and background by a bit of magnanimous behaviour. Perhaps then we can have an interesting discussion on the ownership experience you had with your Aero.

Which model was it?
Which dealer did you buy from?
Did you collect from the factory?
What chassis number?
What paint colour did you chose.
What would you look for in a future Aero / Morgan?
Was the lack of ABS an issue for you?
did you ever track it? How was it?
Why did you sell after 4 months?
What was the depreciation on the Aero in those 4 months?

After all it's quite likely that someone we know is driving our car now - as a genuine enthusiast I don't dount that you would be intrigued to know what it is doing now? Am I wrong?

I'd like to think you'll see the error of your ways, eat a little humble pie and joiin the community rather than sniping from the sidelines for no apparrent reason. Here's hoping... :beers:
