Just a quick question which illustrates my ignorance of all things "Morgan"

Do Morgans still/all/some still use an wooden (Ash?) chassis?

Reason I ask is my Dad mentioned he fancied a Morgan today and I'd like to be able to advise as he thinks I "know everything" to do with cars!

BTW: Definitely not a potential Aero 8 buyer

Morgan do not have a ash chassis. They have a ash frame which part of the body is attached to which itself is attaced to a Steel chassis. This applies to all traditional morgans. The only car I know that had a wooden chassis was a early Marcos...

Thanks, I thought a wooden chassis would be a bit odd. Pics explain better hoy the wood is really used.

The chassis shown is from a Series I, current Aero 8's have much less wood in them and it is just really in the area of the cabin, with some round the boot area, though the aluminium chassis now extends to the rear of the car.

Another photo showing the aluminium chassis underneath the coach-built body of the boot. thumbup

On the Series I this part of the structure, aft of the rear axle, was in wood.
