Hi guys,

Just to let you know, I have set up a dedicated - non-profit - Morgan forum for owners and enthusiasts.

www.talkmorgan.com

It's very early days and you're the first people I've told! Therefore, it would be great to get you all involved at this early stage and have you help shape the site.

As far as I'm aware, it's one of the first dedicated thread-based Morgan forums on the internet and over the next few months I will be advertising it and getting people from around the world, and various Morgan off-line clubs, involved.

I'm very excited and hope you will be also.

Best regards

Simon

[Aero 8 owner]

DEDICATED

You'll notice in the first sentence I said 'dedicated'

In the sentence you quoted I did not - but I have since added it. Thank you for your assitance in correcting my post.

This is Pistonheads... is it not? This is a forum about a myriad of cars and brands.

Perhaps wrongly, I assumed traditional Morgan owners would not frequent Pistonheads?

Guys, if you don't want to know about the forum, that's fine - I just put it up for people who'd be interested.

It really is that simple and as it's 100% non-profit, I don't see where your problem lies?

[As a side note, I notice that neither of you own a Morgan, (at least according to your descriptions) so again, I don't see why you're making an issue over this?]

Perhaps because it seems a little cheeky 'poaching' PH members who frequent this Morgan forum to come to your own.

The owner of PH does make his living from the site, and as such relies on a community of users visiting this and other forums. Why should he help market a potentially competitive offering?

Now, if you want to pay to advertise your forum on here I'm sure PetrolTed would be delighted to hear from you .... hehe

Edited to add: I'm interested to hear what you think this forum doesn't provide for you as a Morgan owner.

As I use this forum and will continue to - due to it's Aero 8 bias - I don't see how there is a problem?

The Morgan brand is filled with traditional users who appreciate the brand for what it represents but don't generally use the internet as their primary means of communication (hence 95% of all the Morgan clubs being off-line) due to their demographic. I will be targeting these people off-line.

I'm sharing something I'm excited about, that a lot of work has gone into and that is TOTALLY not for profit and I'm yet to understand why there is so much sniping on this thread?

(as for speaking for Ted, I'm sure he'd happy to speak for himself and will delete this thread if he views it as contrary to the terms of use of Pistonheads.)

Thanks all.

People are protective of PH for which I'm graetful - many people have invested a lot of time in it, not just me

The point is that it's a bit cheeky to go onto any forum and suggest that people go elsewhere. It's a bit like walking into a pub and saying "Hey everyone, come round my house with some tinnies instead".

Well Done Nomis.

A pure Morgan forum was needed. Emog and Mogtalk are not exactly easy to use due to the message formant as it is a email discussion.

Pistonheads is great. But it is not really used much by the majority of Morgan owners.

Good Luck.

You need a section for non model specific morgan problems or questions as the only difference is the engine in many cases.

Am really happy to take any advice and thanks for the kind words (and you Wacky).

I did wonder whether it was even worth sub-dividing the cars and just have a chat section and a technical section at first.

[done - I had one set-up but hadn't made it live as I thought it best to let people post in the specific car forum; however, I think your point was a valid one - bar the Aero, they are all quite similar]

Would take away the subsections for each model and just have Tranditional, Aero 8 and 3 Wheeler.

Could get a bit confussing otherwise as some would relate to all topics.
