Quick question to Morgan owners
Discussion
I am sooooo tempted by an Aero 8.
Am viewing a 05 model (series 2) next week.
My only question is, if I ever needed to sell it, and lets be honest I rarely keep a car for longer than one year - with one exception; are there many people out there buying??? Or will I be shafted by a dealer?
It seems to me that there are only about 4 or 5 Morgan owners on here (I appreciate that there are many regular Morgan affecionados but Aero 8's?)are there many other forums. And anyone know how many Aero 8's are on UK roads?
Anyhow, dont really know what to expect or what I would like people to say but keep your fingers crossed and I may join you
Boshly

Depreceation is pretty low by most standards - however your best bet of selling will be SOR with a dealer if you want out after a year. There are buyers out there, and with the current TVR 'uncertainty' the number of interested buyers may be slightly up on last year over the next 12 months, who knows.....
Overall however steepest part of the dep. curve will be the first year (i.e. all that VAT is lost!) After that - it's pretty gentle. Obviously not many made per year - I'd figure <100 for the UK market poss less. The market for buying them isn't big, but as numbers are low most seem to get snapped up from the dealers relatively quickly.
Keep a good relationship with your dealer (shouldn't be hard to do) and I'd have thought you wouldn't loose out too much - probably very comaprable with buying a Porsche to be honest.
I'd say just go for it - they are fantastic proper sports cars, and despite the companies small size I can't fault the engineering at all!

Go for it.
They are incredible cars with reasonably low running costs. They attract more attention than any other car I've been in - and it's all positive.
I can't can't believe that they get such indifferent reviews in Top Gear and Autocar, where all they can seem to find wrong are the looks. Clarkson compares them to melting welly boots!
They look so good in the flesh, but not so good in pictures.
Performance is awesome. The other week in Anglesey I was overtaking a 996 GT2 down the straight with no effort whatsoever.
I can definitely recommend them - if you get one I bet you won't be getting rid after 1 year!

Have you had yours dynoed? Thinking of getting mine put on a rolling road just to see what the numbers really are. It's certainly quick but I doubt it would compete in a drag race with a GT2 - might go through the corners faster though as at 1200kg on fat tyres it will pull more than 1g lateral so they say....
honest rich - came out of last corner at about 45mph and got up to ~115 in 4th by the end of the straight.
overtook a 996 gt2 and a 993 rs without much of a problem. Couldn't believe it either - thought they were just idling along, but the instructor said they were on fast laps. I know that there's no chance of beating them at high speeds like at v-max where the aerodynamics will have their say. In 3rd and 4th though I reckon the amount of torque available makes the acceleration through them pretty impressive.
Haven't done a rolling road yet, but I will at some point - I've seen you say before that they often have more than the standard power, so it'd be interesting to see what they run at.
Have you got yours booked in yet for the exhausts? you won't believe the difference they make. Did a meeting last thursday with the yorkshire phers in Leeds for a free film, and finished with a tunnel run. The sound of the cars was awesome - followed a murcie and 5 ferraris and could still hear mine (just!).
Got another track day sorted at elvington in york. Think I'm addicted!

Don't think mileage will be an issue at all - only things to look out for are loose trim etc - mechanically I doubt you'd ahve any issues at all. Mmmmmm side exit exhausts!!!!
My exhaust is off being modded at the facory at the moment (exhaust manifold needs tweaking to fit) - so hoping for next week - it's rather a lengthy saga this exhaust, but I'm looking forward to picking it up.
Been in touch with Allon and white (very responsive bunch!) and I shall be getting the wheel housing leather clad, and I'm ordering the mota lita in interior colour - gonna go for the 13" as I think it will feel better than the 14" as standard.
No news on the rolling road yet - gonna get the pipes fitted first and that will be next week at the earliest...
