Aero 8, knocking noise,

Morning all.

Just though I'd ask the experts.

I was wondering about the knocking noise you get from some Aero 8's, we had a black one at work that made this loud knocking noise and assumed the prop shaft had gone, so booked it into a Morgan dealer who advised us, they all do that and couldnt fault it.

Thought no more of it, untill we got another one in, which, guess what, doesnt have a knocking noise, infact it drives perfectly.

So what are your thoughts, should they knock or not?

Does it knock when its being driven? I was told by Richard Thorne that its the rose jointed suspension that knocks and that they all do it eventually....

Thanks for the reply, yes it was just when being driven.

Strange that the higher mileage one (24900) only has a very faint knocking occasionaly, the low mileage one sounded like the wheels were falling off.

Maybe the low mileage one just hadnt been serviced properly or used enough!

mine knocks, but doesn't sound like its coming from the suspension- more like the gearbox and it's more of a clunk.

that would possibly be 'shunt' inthe driveline. the manual warns of this and says perfectly normal. odd clunk is no worry for me - usually obvious when chnging gear when accellerating hard.......
