I am cosidering the purchase of an aero 8 but I am unable to locate any local cars to view either privately or dealership.I live in the North East just south of Newcastle but all cars I have seen advertised are well down south of me.I would love a "close up" of a car,so if anyone out there, who lives locally,would be willing to show me there's(the car that is)it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry..I'm down south too. But I bought mine from Bauer Millett in Manchester - www.bauer-millett.com/. Have you contacted them? They may have a demo car. Otherwise, call Morgan themselves. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Go for it - you won't regret it!
SGT have a fantastic Aero8 car at the moment (had a good nose while mine is in there at the moment being fettled - it's ex Richard Branson!)... check it out www.sgt.co.uk - ok it's about as far away from you as it gets being in Maidenhead - but worth spending time searching for the right car - I drove 4 cars and travelled a fair distance so see each - worth doing though as they are handbuilt and all feel subtly different.

Just had a look at the car on the SGT website it certainly has the wow factor in that particular colour.
I am not going to purchase a car until early next year thus giving me plenty of time to do my research,I was hoping to start searching a little bit closer to home but it appears due to there rareness this may not be possible.I have not even seen one in the flesh yet,but this should only make it more exciting when I do.

I'm afraid you're right - this is a pretty rare car all told. I travelled up to cambridge from the other side of london to see 1 car, into the centre of london (kensington) for another, and the car I bought is from the clostest non central london dealer to me (SGT).
To be honest the dealers are very helpful, but there isn't a lot for them to do, the car is mechanically and electrically very sound - only issue I've had in 3 months is a blown headlight bulb (£5).
The main issue on these cars is the hood. There is a MkI and a MKII. They serve different purposes. The word is (and I've got one) that the MK I leaks a bit. I personalyl would agree that if the car is in torrential rain that a little will leak into the cabin - but it's not awful.
The MKII is apprrently less leaky. Upgrade from MKI to MKII is around 2500.
When looking at cars be sure to check out the service history - some are just left without being touched becuase owners tend to be eccentric rich types jetting off all over the place. Mine had 18 months between 1st and second service - nothing to worry about given the lack of mileage at the same time though!
Check bodywork and wheels carefully - bodywork is aluminium, easily dented and expensive to repair.
Wheels are a Magnesium alloy - incredibly light and very expensive too - so make sure they are in perfect nick.
Apart form that the car is awesome. Mine came with factory fitted sat nav (that I ahve since removed as it's under the dash and you can't read it anyway). And the standard stereo speakers are lamentably quiet - so I've upgraded to a pinoeer head unit and some decent speakers so I cna hear the radio while I'm sat in traffic.
Engine is good and strong and pulls like a train - performance far over 100 mph isn't great as the aerodynamics kick in, but in real road driving there isn't much that can keep up with you (if you can hold your nerve with 300bhp, 2" between you and the road and no traction or ABS!)..

Expect more Mk1 cars to appear as owners upgrade to the lard-a'se Mk2. I dont like it atall and wont be upgrading. Wheels and interiors also differ. Early cars have centre lock wheels, later have 5 stud. Centre locks look great but are not so easy to maintain. Interior trim varied throughout production. I've only seen one other car with an interior like mine (one of the last Mk1s). The dash switchgear differs too. Also look for a car that has the short shift lever and sports exhaust. The exhaust gives approx 20-30 bhp extra (according to dealer) and costs about £1200. The only other serious upgrade is a freeflow IGN filter, which invloves removing the o/s wing. Best wait till the major service, which invloves front wing removal anyway.

I do realise I am going to have to travel to see a car; this does not worry me, as I bought my Cerbera in Surrey and travelled to London and Derbyshire before purchasing my Dax Cobra.
I am interested in the performance figures as I do like good accelleration this side of 100mph; after that I would not find out anyway. Leaky roof does not bother me, the Cerbera had niggles and the Cobra does not even have side windows, let alone a roof! I don,t think upgrades will concern me either. The only thing of concern is servicing costs, i.e. the Cerbera servicing was a fortune and the Cobra only needs the timing setting up once in a blue moon, two very different mechanical machines.
A good look around a car and a test drive are a must. Once I get a free weekend I will start my quest.

Various sources list the original AERO 0-60 as 4.9 seconds. Given that the officially sanctioned HP figure 0f 276 hp is generally closer to 300hp in actual production mk 1s (from what I've been told) I'd figure it was lower than this in reality.
having done a few runs at VMAX recently the AERO was quite capable of equalling a well driven 360 modena up to around 100mph. After that the Ferrari dissapears in a puff of aerodynamic superiority, but that isn't going to happen much on the road. It really is very very quick. Use the torque and you don't have to shift that much - you can pile on fantastic accelleration without changing gear in 3rd or 4th..

it is an incredible car to drive, and better built than any of its rivals
i can understand the frustration in finding a car- it took me 6 months to find mine
the dealers down south do have more cars available. the bedale garage was helpful, but had no cars available for the 6 months I was looking. I got mine from lifes motors in southport where the advice and service was incredible.
I had never seen one on the road before I got mine, but the pictures you see don't do it justice - in the flesh it is an amazing looking car, and the front does make sense.
I live down near leeds, and you're more than welcome to come and see it. I may also be popping up to newcastle in it if the weather is good next weekend, so stay in touch.
