Since it appears to be impossible to get onto Talk Morgan right now, and this place is super quiet, are there any other Morgan forums which are busier?

Thanks (from a prospective Aero 8 owner)

The Morgan club is an option ( annual subscription). Another is to contact your local branch of the club. They are dotted round and cover just about every area of the UK as well as worldwide.

I find pistonheads easy to use.
I cannot post pictures on talk morgen and cannot reply on face book as my dest top is out of date.
Be great to have some morgan chat happening on here.

Lovely S1.5 you have there.

I like this one, a Morgan Plus 8 GTR 1 of 9 WW normally this model has those doors with stick on windows, but those doors are different, I wonder will those also fit in say the plus 8 and plus six? ok they are not as practical as the aero models with booth, but like the looks a bit better, although I like the doors with up/down side windows way better from the aero.

This GTR seems to have something in between :-) better system (I think) then the say plus six and so on system.

Yup, that Plus 8 GTR is lovely but a bit pricey for my pocket :-)

The regular Plus 8 (from 2014 to 2018) is a great car though too.

Another car to add to my endless list of cars I would like to drive (own) one day.
Have to be realistic and stick to the cars I can just about afford to own.
For what they cost and smiles per mile I think the Aero8 is hard to beat.
I was never a green car man, but your Aero8 looks stunning in green and the matching soft top really adds to the good looks.

Yes well spotted I have a different name on other sites.
How are you geting on with your new Morgan?
In different lights my morgan looks a bit green, that is why I liked it.
I have not been out much, when I have it does get a lot of attention.

I only had mine for the weekend when i bought it - then it went back to Williams to have some work done. Hoping to get it back in the next few days.
Service, MOT, sports exhaust, 2 new tyres, a few other minor fettling bits.
Can't wait!

Have you got your morgan back yet? Would like to see more pictures of it and hear about your first thoughts of driving an Aero 8?

I had it for the weekend again but it's gone back to Williams this morning to have the last few bits done.

The suspension is fidgety and hard at 25mph in urban environments with patchwork tarmac, but above about 45/50mph it smooths everything out beautifully. I think it's just too stiff for the low speed stuff but the pay off is magic carpet ride and excellent body control at 50/60mph on A- and B-roads.

The engine seems to have two personalities, being very docile and lazy below 3k rpm but conversely very lively and eager above 4k rpm. There does seem to be a bit of a flat spot around 3500rpm, but once you get above that the engine clears its throat and wants to fly. Wasn't expecting the 4.4 to feel so "cammy" but it really does. This of course means it's lovely to waft around in 5th or 6th at 30 to 60mph, but if you're in the mood it's genuinely brisk and exciting above 4k rpm.
It's also very happy to pull away in 2nd gear, and yet pulls beyond 60mph (still in 2nd gear!).

The steering is quick, direct, with reasonable feel as you load it up around some faster corners but it's definitely a "both hands on the wheel" kinda car. I've changed the leather wheel for a wood-rimmed example in the same style and size (14" Moto Lita).

The brakes are very effective and seem more than capable of slowing the car down. I like the fact that you have to put some effort into the brake pedal.

Being sat so close to the rear axle of course when it slides you feel it, but it's also very communicative and controllable. The limited slip diff seems effective too.

It's much nicer to drive (and quieter?) roof down than it is roof up. Mine has the very early roof which folds all the way down but is far from airtight or even watertight, and of course the wipers are laughable smile

I've never driven anything which gets more positivity from the general public. People stop and chat everywhere - petrol stations, car parks, traffic lights, villages, all sorts! I slow down or stop for horses and dog walkers and families in villages and invariably everyone wants to stop and chat, not just say thank you and carry on with their day. I have given up counting the smiles and waves, and on the motorway every other car has a camera phone pointing at you.

Overall i have to say i'm even more impressed and enamoured with it than i expected to be. Can't wait to put some more miles on it.

Wow thank you for your in depth review of your Aero8.
I have not had the chance to drive my Aero8 as much as you have in a weekend in the five months I have owned mine.
So it is great to know what a great car they are.
One thing and another I will not be driving my car for another few months and when I do I can compare to what you have found.
Hopefully other owners will join in the chat on here and compare experiences.
It would be great to meet up one day and compare cars.

Hi, I've had my Aero S1 for about 5 years. It's the only car I've had in over 40 years of driving that I'll never sell until I'm too old to drive which for me says it all

Fabulous cars, interesting, rare, individual, fast, great sound track (mine has twin side pipes) and attracts the right kind of attention

Hoping to get mine back today or tomorrow with a fresh MOT and tyres and a few other bits.
Williams have been absolutely brilliant through the buying process.
