Good afternoon all,

I just wanted to first of all say hi and ask a question if I may. My father (not very tech savvy) is currently considering purchasing a late 80's Morgan 4/4 and has asked me to come on here and ask about Morgan servicing if thats ok?

Having never owned a classic car before he's not entirely sure where is best to get the car serviced. Owning more modern cars, he would always tend to get a dealer service to maintain the value of the car etc, but with a classic car he's unsure.

For the North East of you here (my dad lives near Durham), where would you recommend taking a Morgan to get serviced?

thanks in advance

Phil

Beamish Morgan are about 20 minutes from Durham. That would be the place to have it serviced.

Beamish Morgan is where I take my roadster for servicing and MOT. The service manager there is very knowledgeable and the service is good.

A morgan is a pretty simple machine, so any half decent motor engineer will be fine for general stuff. A late 80's 4/4 is going to have a ford 1.6CVH from and XR2 in all likelihood. if its not an injection version, then someone who can remember how to set up a carb would be helpful. There is also a bit of owner, on going maintenance that needs to be done - probably worth getting over to TalkMorgan.com

I have used Imperial Racing, in jesmond and R&P woods in Heaton for morgan fettling - both with good outcomes

Imperial Racing, does Doug still run that?
