Superb review and one that may get me interested in Morgans. Then again...Morgan...TVR...Morgan...TVR, nope the TVR still has it for me.

Good luck to Morgan, I hope it continues to do well. But I am afraid that the Daktari lion look is a turn off.

Don't know whether they have changed the styling since the first previews, but I don't like it any more. They've tried to combine a classic shape with extreme styling and it just looks... well horrible, sorry. I really hope for their sakes, not too many people agree with me.

I think it looks luverly! Now if I put my name down for one and save 10p a week I should be able to afford it when its ready.

I'd never buy anything that looks remotely like Fred Bassett's depressed older brother on Prozac

OH MY GOD!!!!! Did anyone see this, this, THING on Top Gear last night? What an abomination. I saw the pics on this site before but though it may just have been a dodgy photo but my worst fears were realised last night. I can't believe it made production, those lights, it reminds me of that old cartoon character Dopey you know the sad eyed hound? And from the side well Jeezz, did someone sit there and say 'Ohhhh that looks nice, lets make some'? Not sure what this will do for the British car market, but for the sake of tradition I hope it sells like hot cakes and keeps some of those German hairdresser-mobiles of our roads. Obviously all my opinion..I am now preparing to be brought to my knees by the flailing words of fans.

I wouldn't worry if you think its ugly, with the morgan production team working flat out at a third of a car a year you are never likely to see one on the road.

Well apart from the headlights (frankly whoever thought they were a good idea needs to be taken outside and shot !!), I actually quite liked it. I'm still not 100% sure about the Marcosesque tail treatment but it looked a pretty serious bit of kit.

Incidentally - does anybody recognise "those" headlights? Yep - new VW Beetle! Marco

Not sure about the foreign engine, the front lamps or the rear end. Although if nothing else, it's certainly eye-catching....just hope it sells. Patrick.

That foreign engine that'll do hundreds of thousands of miles...

There is a young lady who is doing development work and PR for Morgan who drives one regularly around the Guildford area, so I see one quite often, the two tone silver one looks pretty grim to my eyes ( but I believe this is a development hack), but just recently she's been driving a dark green Aero, and this really looks quite imposing ! Maybe I'm biased as I was bold enough to put down a deposite when the car was launched. Regards, Tim.

The foreign engine is a wonderfully refined V8 good for lots-o-miles, which it seems is more than can be said for the tuned Rover V8. Anyway, stuff a silly exhaust on and you're done... Oh look, they did

They claim that this 4.4L V8 from BMW is the most advanced, best, sexiest etc etc, but 284bhp from 4.4L isn't exactly breathtaking is it - about 65bhp per litre ? My wife's clio does better than that !

284 from 4.4 sounds pretty much the same as 320 from 5. In fact, my calculator tells me that's almost the same bhp/litre. Technology doesn't necessarily mean power: it means emissions, logevity, longer service intervals, cheaper servicing, and a load of other stuff. My 5 litre tiv needed a rebuild at 20,000 miles, my BMW V8 at 90,000 miles, and that wasn't strictly its fault - water ingress. Let's be clear: I love TVRs, but other cars have their place, and BMW are pretty good at what they do, modulo the odd spectacular cockup: 3 series compact styling, new 7 series styling, the 518i (remember that?) :-)

>is it just me or does clio conjure up all sorts of sexual connotations ?> Has it got something to do with the sexy french accent telling you that size does matter ? I suppose I have to accept the fact that we're not going to get a Morgan with an AJP, but what about the Chevy, is that equally bad on emissions as the Rover lump ? BTW, I'm aware that the Chevy is not home bred either Patrick.
