I’m a registered user of the Talk Morgan forum, but since mid afternoon yesterday (23 June 2019) I’m unable to get onto the site.

Message comes back as

“Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /ubbthreads.php/forums/8/1/Maintenance_&_Servicin on this server.”

I’ve a quick link to TM, and have also tried going in by googling TM and following those links but get the same message.

Sometimes the last part of the message is different as in it might say “classic Morgan” or “Malvern Arms” instead of Maintenance in the above cut and paste.

So my question is am I alone in this, or is the site down for some reason? For some time in the bar at the top of the web browser in get a “site not secure” warning but thought that was to do with certification of hosted sites - but maybe not?

I use Safari on the iPad and have no problem getting onto other sites.

The site has been taken down due to a sustained hack.

I've been told that the damage done needs to be repaired and new security measures introduced before it can continue with business as usual but I have no idea how long this will take.

This is DaveW!

And this is the position this morning,

TM, the site and email, have been taken offline by the hosting company due to a hacker damaging the site and causing a vulnerability.

Until the site is restored, and the hosting company are assured that the site is clean again, the account will remain offline.

So we should be prepared for a wait, but rest assured that "our people" are working on it.

Wolfie, I got this yesterday. Message from Simon at TM, "the site and email, have been taken offline by the hosting company due to a hacker damaging the site and causing a vulnerability. I now have to find someone to restore the site and prove to the hosting company that the site is clean again, before they will reinstate my hosting account.”

Thanks Rich

I also got an email from the Admin at the image library yesterday evening saying the same thing.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to attack a site let alone a fairly niche, innocuous motoring forum...

Wolfie,

I wasn't sure if you were on the TM image site or not, it was a good way of communicating the news to us all.
No I don't understand these hackers it's just mindless vandalism.

The Series 2 Land Rover forum I frequent was also hacked yesterday although the webmaster had the damaged files fixed in just a few hours. Even this forum is holding back on allowing posts from new members for similar reasons. Is it the weather

Talk Morgan Members - Update.
A quick update from Simon this morning.
IT Support for the UBB software has been engaged and connected.
Clean restore and upgrade is underway
Work started last night (US based)
All being well we expect to see an enhanced site up and running at or before the weekend.
More as I hear it.
Please guide if there is someone who can also provide coverage of the TM faithful.
