Plus 6 Launched

I fancy one of those and registered an interest online.
Trouble is I always wanted a Morgan until I drove one. Sorry Morgan fans but I was expecting something that looked classic but drove like a modern car. It drove like a tank and the brakes and steering were appalling.
Reaching for my tin hat.

I know what you mean - the 'traditional' Morgan has all the sophistication of a medieval oxcart, but that's part of the fun.Trouble is I always wanted a Morgan until I drove one. However, if you want a modern feeling Morgan, buy the +8 with the 4.8 V8 BMW engine (I have one) and it handles like a modern car... or indeed the new Plus 6, which will also feel modern.

I’ll pass on what you refer to as ‘part of the fun’. I thought it was horrible but each to their own. However, if you want a modern feeling Morgan, buy the +8 with the 4.8 V8 BMW engine (I have one) and it handles like a modern car... or indeed the new Plus 6, which will also feel modern.
I have registered interest in the Plus 6 and looking forward to a test drive.

I agree - it's why I went for a Plus 8, which has a similar chassis to the 6.I have registered interest in the Plus 6 and looking forward to a test drive.
I think the Plus 6 will be terrific - all of the Morgan benefits, but fewer compromises. It will be a fabulous thing to own.

I think it’s the same engine I have in my BMW 540 which is great. I’m still concerned about the brakes, steering & handling which were awful in the Morgan I test drove some years ago.I think the Plus 6 will be terrific - all of the Morgan benefits, but fewer compromises. Looking forward to trying it though.

The aluminium chassis Morgans are leagues away from the Elizabethan engineering of the older traditionals.Looking forward to trying it though.
The engine is almost identical to those used in the 540. It's the B58 used in the X5, X7, M40, M340 and Supra.
All of the above comments are fair enough, however, surely, the point of the traditional Morgan is that it is a vintage car built today. The Plus 8 and Plus 6 are modern cars which are built to look like vintage cars, which is a totally different thing. I’ll reserve judgement until I drive a Plus 6, but on the traditional cars, you either like the vintage experience or you don’t. I rather think that if you want a modern car, you should buy a modern car, not one that is masquerading as a vintage car, reminiscent of those bogus wedding cars you see driving about, which are, I think London Taxis. Going to your wedding in a London taxi would, I think, look cooler.
NDA, you know more about this than me and I look forward to hearing your comments. I have a 110 Roadster, so I suppose I may be biased.

I am not sure the +8, Aeros or +6 are masquerading as anything. They are hand built Morgans - but without the compromising sliding pillar and leaf suspension.NDA, you know more about this than me and I look forward to hearing your comments. I have a 110 Roadster, so I suppose I may be biased.
I really can't see the comparison between a 'bogus wedding car' and a modern Morgan.
Having owned and driven 4/4's, +4's, Roadsters and a Aero - they are all Morgans through and through. At the top of the evolutionary tree are the Aero derived chassis cars.
I found similar attitudes with Aston Martins when I had a Vanquish "not a proper Aston" was the view of the red trouser brigade. So I bought 2 vintage ones .... they were interesting, but still as much of an Aston as the Vanquish was. The comments generally came from owners of older Aston barges who couldn't afford the modern versions.
I’m sure that you are right, i was just stating the obvious argument with comparisons - I will get a test drive when Revolutions get their Plus 6 demo.
I quite liked the Plus 4 I tried, a little bit like an old TR4 I thought, but didn't get one at the time because so much broke on the car during the test drive.

Absolutely agree. There is no car that, for me, MUST have a manual gearbox more than a Morgan. No manual available in a Morgan is an automotive atrocity. Does the BMW engine that fakes its sound in every other application also fake its sound in the Plus 6?
No - it is all real sound! It does need the Sports Exhaust option though...it is too quiet - without.
