+ 8 Wheel / Tyre options ?
Discussion
Hi all,
I am new here usually found in the Ferrari / Aston martin section, however a little while ago I picked up a new to me +8
It has a full race spec class b engine and pretty much straight thru side exhausts (sounds like a spitfire !) has roll bar / scuttle bar etc etc I have two pages of things done to it as he planned to race it but never did ! just resprayed iris blue
However the one thing that really lets it down are the wheels they are the original 1980 + 8 wheels and the tyre are from 1991 !!!!!
So I need a new set of wheels and tyres, thinking about upgrading to 6 x 15 inch wheels either the slightly more modern ones (which seem as rare as hen's teeth) or some minilites
Has anyone got any advice on wheels / tyres or any reccomendations for anyone that does 2nd hand ones ?
Thanks
Phib

1991?
Bloody hell they need changing. Lethal!
Go to www.talkmorgan.
Website for Morgan owners.
Do you plan to race it?
Track days?
Just road use?
Whatever you do fit good tyres. I have a Plus8 and it is easy to get the back end out, especially in the wet so learn the characteristics /power put down.

Plan really at the moment is to get it looking a bit more modern (bit more of a racer look), bumpers off, luggage rack off ( both done now) interior needs a lightweight carpet set (which the previous owner has somewhere)
I am going to change the tyres and wheels, after a few phone calls yeterday I think I am going to go down the minilite route 6 x15 with 195's, I think they should fit.
Then fit the rear wheel lovered cover, it has just flown through an MOT even with the leathal tyres !!
I seem to end up with all the rather mad cars "that need a little work !!"
I supect I will get it right, use it for a bit then probably sell it on .... it may however get under my skin and may be kept !!
Not really planning on racing may do the odd track day as its really set up for that
Thanks

Probably not the best type of car to start with then
More seriously, I think Minilites would suit it. Do they make it look more modern, though? Who cares, they'd look good and are 'period' wheels.
