Morgan purchase advice
Discussion
So learned chaps, I've been hanging my nose and testing a few classics for gentle run out on a sunny Sunday duties.
But I'm not good with old worn things, they irk me, so I'm hanging my nose over a new or nearly Morgan for as an alternative that gives classic looks & drive but is actually a new car!
My thoughts are that the 4/4 is maybe a bit underpowered, the Roadster a bit much, so the Plus 4 is the sweet spot of the range.
Given that, I think I'm right in saying the engine in the Plus 4 has just changed as I notice a few of the new cars say Ford GDI but I can't find any info on the change?
Anyone care to elaborate? Is the new GDI engine worth going for over the previous Duratec?
Any other things I should know / look out for?
Many thanks for the help.

I'm sure there will be others who can advise on the 4 wheel cars but have a go in a 3 wheeler if you can. They are superb Sunday cars
Also there is a wealth of Morgan advice on www.talkmorgan.com

I did ponder a 3 wheeler but wondered if they might be a bit too close to my Caterham in terms of rawness, loudness and things hitting your face!
There are many similarities and also differences between the M3W and Caterhams.
Several of the Talkmorgan regulars have had first hand experience of both and can give some better advice.
Basically, as I understand it, the Caterham is more track day for the road whereas the Morgan is as happy pottering along enjoying the ride as b*lls out scratching around.
The best way to find out is of course to try one

So today I'm tootling around in my brothers 2013 Plus 4.
First impressions after about 3/4 of an hour behind the wheel...
Well there quite a lot of chassis flex, kind of alarming at first until you get used to it and accept it as normal.
The engine and gearbox are lovely and really suit the laid back character of the car.
Steering requires some acclimatisation, bit dead in terms of feel and a lot of kickback, seems fairly accurate once past the dead zone, steering wheel feels huge!
Al in it's jolly good fun, keeping it tonight to do a bit of back to back and see if it's sufficiently different to the Caterham in terms of it's role to warrant having both.
If not, then the question is, do I go Morgan, or update the Caterham for something less extreme than the R400 and a bit more roadable like a 360S.
Not a bad decision to have to make I know!
Happy days.
