I'm trying to ascertain which series to get.

The car is being exported to Australia so I need to confirm eligibility of each version beforehand but sill would like people's opinions.

It seems the S1 is rather nicer inside, I prefer the simple wheel and no stereo in dash. But I believe the 2's and 3's have a better hood design, slightly larger engine and of course no more 'cross eye's'.

Is there anything else I should consider between the series?

I went through this about 3 years back.

I'd drive them all to see, certainly s1 and then either a 2 or 3 to see which one suits you best.

The 1 is a more sporty setup than the other two in terms of suspension. You can get side exit exhausts on the 2 onwards though!

The magnesium wheels on S1 can be a pain too. Talk Morgan forum is a good place for info but I'm sure you've found that already.

Lovely thing, good luck and hope you get further than I managed to!

As PGM suggests, the Talk Morgan forum has a fair amount of information on this subject ..... see http://www.talkmorgan.com/

I went through this process last year when I decided to swap from a +8 to an Aero8. At that time people suggested that the Series 3 was a better sorted car than either the Series 1 or Series 2, in that lots of niggles and idiosyncrasies had been sorted. I looked at a couple of Series 1/2 cars and also at the Series 3 before deciding to buy a Series 3. I have to say that I have not been disappointed in my choice. I have had the car for nearly a year now and I would not be without it. Great fun to drive, lots of power, great noise (and I don't have side pipes), firm but comfortable ride compared with the +8's I have had and my wife also likes it much more than the traditional ones we have owned in the past.

I would suggest you try before you buy if you can, but my choice would be the series 3, despite the radio in the dash.

Cheers ............. Pete

Horses for courses but depends what you want from your Aero and the type of drive you prefer.

For me it's an S1 because it's raw and free from American influence

Not that many cars about but as Peter has said try before you buy.

I had a series 2 and moved up to a series 4 different cars but as vpr said it depends what you want, the cars after the Series 1 are more sorted in terms of comfort, easier to erect hood etc.

Good luck with the hunt.

The S3 is quite a nice compromise. Fly-off handbrake, manual box, 4.4 v8 and corrected eyes. I missed mine so much I just bought the Aero Supersports - similar to the Aero 8 but with a nicer (to me anyway) backend. If you want normal handbrake, auto transmission (some might have been manuals - I don't know) and 4.8 v8 try the S4.

The S1 went through at least 3 roof designs that I can find, the later ones are the easy up version as shared with S2 etc. I am looking myself, and the S1's are a more alive/raw drive if that makes sence, and I think with the lower rear end and the half dash a far better looking car.
The boss eyes were sorted on S3's

For me though the condition is the issue as is the colour, as is finding the time to go and see the cars.
