Owning a Morgan three-weeler (3-wheeler)?
Discussion
There are a few owners on here who will breaking to help shortly I'm sure. There are good Morgan resources out there too - (Try TalkMorgan for a dedicated active 3 wheeler forum for example).
A couple of members here recently drive a 3 wheeler (a d other Mogs) to the Artic and back. I think they'll have some thoughts on tweaks as most of them are 3 wheeler owners too.
Overall as will all Mogs I would recommend getting started and driving for a bit and then start tweaking.
Good luck in your search!

As Mr Tony has said some of us took a few Morgans including a 3 wheeler to the Nordkapp recently and based on this I'm not sure what mean about making them sturdier.
I've had my 3 wheeler over a year now, yes its not perfect but then its got a wheel missing, but it is a blast to drive once you get your head around the half classic car half motorbike make up of the car.
If you're serious I'd suggest you get yourself booked with
http://www.morgan3wheeler.co.uk/3wheelerdrive/3wdh...
Also try www.talkmorgan.com as you'll find a number of other owners on the forum.
I'm sure once you've tried it you'll want one, that's what happened to me.

I would recommend hiring one first. I Hired one from the factory (other dealers will rent them out but the factory is the closes to us). We had a blast. I would suggest hiring it for as long as possible especially if you aren't used to Morgans as they do take getting used to. We rented ours for 24hrs plus one day (pick up at 9am and return by 4:30pm the next day). We had a great time despite the continual rain on the first day. Once you have hired one you will have a much better idea of what options you may need - Options are always needed - never wanted.....Have Fun

Right, i now want a 3-wheeler!! Saw the video, saw one in the flesh.
Does anyone have any experiance in owning one?
For £30k whats the reliability like, and what about the depreciation?
Also i hear that some need modifications, to make them sturdier. What do i need to know?

Was gonna post more or less this. Seen videos and decided "I need one". My brothers have got Morgans and I think I'll sell my TVR and buy a 3 wheeler. Question: can you buy a cover to use when parked?
Had mine for seven months now and it still has its ability to put a massive grin on my face when I drive it and on everyone else's faces for a fair distance around it too.
Sturdy? Not a problem though I've had to nip up a couple of nuts and bolts but with a 2L V-Twin this isn't really a big surprise. Sorting out a bike style hugger rear mudguard for under the boot liner is nigh on essential but not a big deal to do and maybe the factory will do something about it themselves eventually. Couple of bits and pieces have been sorted out under warranty but that is hardly unique to low production run oddities.
As for depreciation, it's difficult to say but I know that mine hasn't depreciated at all - then again I haven't tried selling it to find out! Man maths are important for all toys and my suspicion/hope is that it will hold its value better than most toys of a similar cost. No doubt the ones that really hold their values well will be those that live in temperature and humidity controlled garages and only do 100 dry sunny miles a year rather than those that get driven to Europe for Christmas or up to Nordkapp and back! Either way the grins per £ factor is very high.
The recent Caterham-Morgan M3W video hit the nail on the head for both cars, ideally I should have both but my decision was to go for the lower speed, lower precision driving silliness and grins of the Morgan rather than the high grip, high corner speeds and grins of the Caterham.
Asbo; I'm not sure if it's got one wheel missing or one wheel extra.
Be warned, drive a three wheeler and despite all its oddities you are very likely to be utterly hooked within a very few yards (it doesn't feel like a metric car)
Go for it and join in the fun.

Can't find anything specific covering this - what is the maximum size of chap that will fit in one of these? At 6'2" I'm not especially tall, but played in the second row, and would describe my build as.....solid? Chunky? Brick outhouse? Certainly I'm broad across the hips (translation: big arse), and tend not to buy slim fit shirts, if you see my meaning, but I'm fine in my TVR T350, and have had a Lotus Elise before now. How snug is this beastie?

I'm 5'11", sat in one a few weeks ago and found it very uncomfortable. My knees were right up against the wheel.
The seat couldn't go further back and I don't know if the pedals are adjustable ?. I hope so as I'd seriously
like one. Further investigation required on my part.
That's remarkable - 5'11" isn't exactly an unusual height! The seat couldn't go further back and I don't know if the pedals are adjustable ?. I hope so as I'd seriously

Did the Morgan factory tour earlier this year..(As the ex owner of two new Morgans) and the lanes around Malvern Link were buzzing with three wheelers out on test on trade plates.....all different colours.
Also loads at the factory, many waiting to go to their new owners....(many in Germany)
Look like great fun, although personally I think they are very expensive for what they are....£22k would be more like it, but they can sell every one they make, so that speaks volumes...

Charles Morgan who is I think 6' 2" is MMc's percentile male and he fits in a M3W, so you may well fit. I think the only way is to try one. I live in Berkshire and if that is convenient you are welcome to try mine for size, as I think it is the ratio of body to legs that is the ultimate decider, not just height.Aeroman
