Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying a Morgan. I went to SGT last Saturday and test drove a Morgan Plus 4 four seat and really liked it.
Strangely I checked online for some insurance quotes, and I got quoted the lowest prices for Morgan Plus 4 and 4/4 models (even if it's parked on the street apparently). Even a 2010 Ford Fiesta would cost more for me. Is there anyone here under-25 who drives a Morgan? I would like to hear their experiences on obtaining insurance. I have also heard that it is cheaper if you call directly? is this true?

I'm mostly looking at mid-80's to late 90's 4/4 and Plus 4, including 4 seater cars. I have a budget of 15,000. I have done a lot of reading in the past about these cars.
I generally prefer driving higher mileage cars and like to have plenty of options like the walnut dashboard, wire wheels, luggage rack, leather, door handles etc.
It would serve as my only car here in London, but I don't drive that much as I keep off the roads during congestion charging hours.

Any advice welcome!

Try the Morgan insurance link from the website, sorry can't remember the company name off the top of my head.

The cost for my Aero 8 was less than half what I paid for a Boxster S.

There are a couple of insurance brokers recommended by the owners club, typically offering agreed value classic policies - I use Gott and Wynn - you can probably google them, I dont have the number handy. My '88 4 seater was valued for the insurance this week, for £17k, which is nice as I paid 15k for it 2 years ago.

Brands Hatch morgan are worth a visit too, they are a long established dealer with good reputation, I visited them by chance a few years ago and spent the whole morning there, found out loads of useful info, they are very enthusiastic

Good Luck on your search

I use the Morgan insurance, it is Headley Insurance services that run the scheme and current underwriter is Hiscox.
