My 4.0L's got a hybrid cam from Peninsula - I can't remember the model number, but apparently the profile is somewhere between the std cam and a 5.0L cam. Lot's of power above 3000rpm with no apparent loss of low end.
I've been told the 5.0L cam will fit ... it's got a higher profile but I'm not sure where the power gains will be on a 4.0L though.

Can yours burble in third as well as roar in second, like the man said?

As it is my first TVR I have nothing to compare it with but the mechanic said "it goes like a rocket"

Is a bit jumpy in 1st/2nd/3rd gears at idle revs but very insignificant compared to the

It will do both.
Personally I prefer very slight application of the throttle in first, second or third. This makes it pop and gargle which is better than burbling.
Last time I had it serviced they commented on how smoothly it ran too.

They advertise on here, or are linked in the oily pages.
Now this is where it gets tricky explaining how I obtained mine ... My camshaft needed replacing (worn lobes on exh 8) and nobody could supply a std cam for about a week. I helped the independent out because I was desperate to get the car on the road (track day the coming weekend). I found one in stock at TMS and they shipped it down. When the independent examined it he noticed it didn't look std. It came in a plain white cardboard box with no markings. There were markings stamped on the end of the cam. Anyway, he installed it and set the timing as best he could at the time. Since then it has been adjusted but basically that's how I got a non-std cam. I still didn't know what type it was until one day I called in to Peninsular for something en-route to Devon. I mentioned the cam and they said they supply TMS with all their cams and said it was a hybrid something or other. Sorry I can't remember anything more about it, it's definitely not an 'aggressive cam' though.
