I have just got a Pipercross filter for my 400 Chimaera , not an element but a bolt on upgrade , my bible has not yet arrived from TVRCC , is it much of a job removing the old assembly and running a cold air pipe? Which is the best angle to do this job from ? Thanks Corin

You might need to remove the front grill to get access. The big question is why bother? The standard filter is actually more than adequate and air flow restriction through the filter is not a problem with these cars. I doubt if it will do anything unles the original unit is caked up bigtime.

And you already have a cold air pipe, its that big black thing running down the nearside inner wing in the engine bay.

The Pipercross filter, (I've got one on my Chimaera) just relaces the TVR foam filter, which is behind the front grill, no messing about, no real performance gains, but the TVR filter is replaced every other service (I think) the Pipercross is just re-oiled, so works out cheeper if your keeping the car long.
And it looks better, if you can see it through the grill?

It's also the same filter as on my friend Mike's 99 450 Chimaera with something like a 9 digit serial number painted in white on the end of it.
