fuel tank sender
Discussion
B****RD bloody car!! Went out to the Peak District for a blast yesterday, and despite the fuel guage showing nearly full, I ran out of petrol whilst overtaking someone!. It really is very embarrasing being laughed at by MGF drivers - Direct Line Rescue arrived 20 mins later with 5 litres of juice. Any thoughts, anyone - how easy is it to replace the sender? The only good aspect to this, was talking to a biker who'd passed us when we were stranded. I saw him at the petrol station and he shouted over "I've never owned a car, but if i did, that would be the car I'd have!"
Oh, I forgot - '99T Chimaera 4.0L.

I think that the easiest option is to remember to hit the trip counter button on your speedometer every time you top up with petrol. Depending on the type of driving, I know that I need to think about topping up my tank once I'm near the 250 mile mark. Together with info from the fuel gauge, I have not been completely out of petrol once in my Chim in the 5 years covering 50,000 miles.
