Anyone have any idea which parts bin TVR robbed the windy wiper motor from for my '95 chim, cos it's starting to die. After just having forked out 1,200 quid on a service and a new set of Bridgestones on the way, I was rather hoping to avoid coughing-up another £150 + vat on the wiper motor as quoted by my (not so)local TVR dealer. It's starting to become rather tiresome driving with my head out the window wearing a snorkel and mask every time it rains.

Is the wiper stopping to work altogether? If it's just parking all over the place it might be the park switch, a few quid.
Try called Team Central for a price on a motor if necessary - they seem competitive as far as main dealers go. I think the wiper arms are from a Citroen of some kind, I'm not sure about the motor though. Does it have a Lucas sticker on it which your local motor factor could work with?

Unfortunately the local Lucas dealer didn't recognise the part no. on the body of the wiper motor, but said if I could remove it and bring it in he would see what he could do. As it stopped raining for a few hours this morning I set to with spanners and found it not as simple a task as I had suspected. (Now why am I not surprised by this!)Anyway, found I had to disassemble the motor body from the worm drive to remove it and - hey presto! the motor was full of rust and water. An hours cleaning with scotchbrite and WD40, follwed by a quick re-assembly (girlfriend moaning that she wants to go shopping!) and everything seems to be OK so far!
