Hello All, The steering rack on my 95 motor is puffing and hissing. Where on earth do you check it's full of fluid ? Can't see an obvious filler !

The pas reservoir is the black plastic cannister mounted on the drivers side of the inlet plenum (the rectangular alloy lump on top of the engine).
The cap has a dipstick on it - make sure you hold the body of the reservoir when you undo it or the whole lot can twist on its mounting.

I had a similarly asthmatic problem with my PAS. Cured by topping up the reservoir. Watch out for leaks from the pipes - that was my my level was down. There are jubilee clips on the pipes underneath the reservoir and I also had seepage from the 2 rubber pipes which meet in a metal U pipe just underneath the PAS pump. This is located at the front of the block on passenger side. A quick tweak of the jubilees seems to have done the trick.

Hi Richard I guess not too far away. I live in Great Dalby, 4 miles from Melton Mowbray towards Market Harborough. Only had my Chimaera for 4-5 weeks, it's a 95 white 4L with 24k on the clock. Fell in love with it after seeing it on the TMS website. Sad what!. I really wanted to get rid of my Westfield before I bought another car but never mind. Lets hope the weather lifts soon and I can get the top off.

If looking for the resevoir it should also have "ZF" stamped on the lid of the resevoir.

A lot of the PAS systems leak -- mine does. Check it each time you check oil and pressures (you do this every week, right?).

Mine's never failed an MoT but it's been dripping very slightly ever since I bought it three-plus years ago. It would cost a fair amount to have someone fix it -- but it's cheaper to buy the occasional container of PAS fluid and it also ensures I get under the bonnet at least once a week and have a poke around...
