Tank connections
Discussion
My stereo is 'augmented' by the fuel tank pretending it is a bass box. Usual problem. Found the carbon cannister today with no real drama (behind front grille).
Doug at David Gerald, being the environmentalist that he is, helpfully suggested that I just disconnect the breather pipe to vent to atmosphere. He then suggested that I go and pour some oil in my local stream and chop down some trees (he didn't - I just made that up). As I don't posess the pygmy fingers required to remove the cannister this solution suits me fine (at least until the next service).
Now don't ask me why I did this, perhaps its because it is Valentines day, but I gave the breather pipe a bit of a blow, just to check whether it is clear. Well, it's very tight (even with the filler cap off!), which probably doesn't help the problem. This led me back to fuel tank, and this is where things get complex. Can someone help me identify the connections to the petrol tank so that I can work out where and how it connects without having to disassemble half of the car to find out myself. If easy enough I may just replace the whole bally thing then.
So far I have discovered the following pipes; one by the tank neck, which may be the one I am after; a connection on the right hand side back top, by the sender guage, which I suspect is a return pipe (not sure). Which leads me to ask where the main pick-up for the fuel delivery to the engine is? Presumably on the bottom of the tank somewhere - and again, I presume that the piping runs deep up inside the chassis or is metal pipework , because the only rubber pipe running down the passenger side chassis box is the breather.
I can't really get under the back of the car at the moment to have a closer look as the front is in the air (finishing off the chassis).
