I'd like 17/18 inch wheels - is it possible?
Discussion
Am having same thoughts (MOT due, 3 bald tyres).
Elite (Essex, see oily pages for Tel No) has fitted 18" RL7s to Griff (I'm awaiting photo from owner). Speak to 'H' at elite, price quoted this week for 4 x 18" x 8" running SO2 PP 225/35/18 F and 255/35/18 R is £1,544 inc VAT. Wheels alone are ~£165 + VAT each.
BTW, I have a suspicion that 18" x 9" may fit on the rear (as Cerby) but have no proof.
All above is based on a 4 stud fitment for Chim/Griff, lead time as at yesterday was 10 days (from raceline who are no cheaper)
Ps I have a 98 Chim 500.

yes whats your email address ? Graham yes you can get RL7's with 4 studs, I think that 18" might dwarf the car but what the hell give it a go. I found the tramlining actually improved slightly but I've read that wheel alignment is critical so would only trust this work with the right people. I would like to try a Griff with power steering to see if this 'absorbs' some kickback and get some feedback from suspension mods carried out
Done this to my Griffith but it did invlove some effort to get perfect. I have 17x8 215x40 front and 18x8 255v35 rear. Price was £1264 inc. vat from Micheldever so sounds a good deal from other prices quoted here.
points:-
1) you all realise that a Griff/Chim is 4 stud not 5
2) 8" does not really fit at the front without fouling the wishbone on full lock.
3) I fitted a 6mm spacer to cure this
4) Raceline supply poxy/naff centre caps so if you want nice TVR alloy centre caps you will need to fabricate them from a Cerbera but the Cerbera has different sized centre bore holes in the wheels (larger by about 5 mm)
5) In hindsight I would have fitted 7x17 fronts to get more clearence but I'm not sure if RaceLine make these?
6) The steering is in fact lighter - I don't have pas.
7) The 255 rears are a tight squeeze on 8" rims but just fit.
8) Standard offsets are 25mm front and 40mm rear but I am running 35mm at the front to get a bit more clearence.
Any more questions e-mail me on rbranch@aims-software.com
p.s. I think the Essex Griffith has 18" front and rear reg. 5000 OIL and I would like ot know how he did his TVR centre caps?

Warning: it has come to our attention that owners of TVR vehicles, specifically the "Griffith" and "Chimaera", are considering fitting larger aluminium sports wheels to their motorcars. Please note that should such wheels be of the "Polished Chrome" finish and aquired from vendors advertising in magazine publications such as "Max Power", the owner will be in direct violation of the Public Highways Act section 12A (paragraph 4: "Looking like a nob in a poncey car". Further, the use of under-car neon lighing and "On a Mission" rear-window treatments constitutes breaking the law and is punishable by general derision from everyone else on the road. You have been warned.....
Sorry "fashionpolice", but as these are the same jobs fitted to Cerbera 4.5 by TVR I reckon it is you who needs to watch out for the "missed-the-point joke-police"
