Roof colour opinions.......
Discussion
I have a BRG Chim with a black roof - Now it is in pretty good nick but the seals are a bit loose/worn and the rear screen is scratched..
I have the opportunity to get a new roof for not a lot of cash (I do a website for a car interior company) so I think I will get a new roof (can't do the car value any harm).
I have seen an XK8 in BRG with a dark green roof and really liked it - See here www.car-interior.co.uk/img/cars/xk82.htm but I am after some opinions on whether I should go green or stick with black....

there seemed to be quite a few Chimaeras around with pale metallic green bodies and dark green hoods a couple of years ago - I thought they looked pretty smart personally.
I think the factory expanded the roof selection about 3-4 years ago - blue, black, green and red are all available.
Frankly, its your car and if you like it, go for it.

My other half used to have a metallic green 306 Pug Cab and it had a black hood – OK you say but the other day I saw a newer one (V Reg) that was the same body colour but had a hideous green hood on it. Might have just been the wrong colour on the wrong car, but I've never been a fan of hoods that are lighter in hue (no pun intended hugh!) than the body colour. For example if you had a dark blue car would you have a sky blue hood? No, I wouldn't. Just doesn't look right.
Can't you get a big bit of the green cloth and sort of drape it over yours as a test?!

To have targa recovered and a new rear section/window - TVR quoted me about £600.
I have a juniper pearlescent green Chim with black roof, and I would love to have a dark/bottle green conversion done. I think this would look better than the black so long as the mohair is a dark hue. I agree with earlier posts that MGFs etc that have a light tan lid look terrible. Also, I expect that lighter colours will be more difficult to keep looking clean perhaps? As with any other TVR colour schemes in and out, you just have to take a look and decide if it works - but I like the pic of the Jag, looks good IMHO.

I have a 96 Cooper Green metalic with a dark green hood, I need to replace the rear screen and I'm thinking of having the whole hood re-coloured black at the same time. I quite like the green but it has become quite faded over the years so I think I'll go for black - has anyone done this and if so what is the best product please ?
looks like I have found a/the purple Chimaera with the purple roof.
fair play to whoever specified it but I wouldn't have had the bottle...
