Seriously considering purchasing a Chimaera
Discussion
I'm seriously considering purchasing a 93/94' Chimaera within the next few months and was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look out for on these early models. Also some recommendations on where to look for a good reasonably priced car would be useful.
Thanks - Simon.

Simon,
This is an excellent idea.
Have you tried to use the 'Search' link on the forum for this kind of questions are frequently asked here? You should find there a wealth of information. And should you feel you are missing something, then ask and we'll pile over each other to help you - promised !

Most chimaera's of this age will be private sales, so follow the usual steps of HPI check, check servicing and bills etc etc.
I would urge you to check everything electrical.
I've had my 93' Chimaera a year now and touch wood ownership has been neither hugely expensive or much hassle (and a lot of fun). However after buying the car i realised that one electric mirror didn't work, the speedo was not reading correctly and the mileometer was inaccurate. These aren't massive problems but cost several hundred pounds to fix. Had I noticed them at the time of purchase I could have negotiated harder on price.
There seems to be plenty of cheap early Chimaera's available at the moment, try not to be seduced by the first one you see / drive / hear.
Good Luck.

Make sure you don`t take your cheque book with you when you test drive one..
I echo the Electrical Sentiment, get it checked out by someone like David Batty, or even Rob of Findasportscar (not used either of them meself mind, I used Fernies for all my serving and that)
And if all goes well for me in two months I may have mine up for sale while I attempt to get a 5.0......
