Scotland run stats
Discussion
Just completed 1200 mile round trip to Scotland over the weekend in the pouring rain in new 5l Chim (now got 3.5k on clock). Read a thread a few weeks ago about a number of you seeing long trips as a major event and couldn't see what all the fuss is about, esp in a brand new car - now I know.
Leaked like a sieve (again)
Windscreen washer hose became detached and dumped water into heating (again)- result sprayed face from windscreen vents and couldn't see too well (although RainX a brilliant product in heavy rain, Chino's now got purple left leg from the wet gearbox tunnel carpet (I could be a passenger for while I suppose...)
Elec door mirrors packed up
Well cooked even with heating off
In at Moley's again now - I am expecting a few issues but this does all seem a bit OTT on a £40k car - it rather took the edge off the driving. Still, hopefully if I cram enough miles on in the first year it will all settle down
However, on the plus side a few interesting stats:
At steady 85 got 22mpg and at steady 105 26mpg - a big change from the 17mpg I have enjoyed so far (all that gear changing and revving under bridges and in carparks I suppose)
Temp never moved in 7 hours from 75, oil steady at 60
Oil and water level steady
Passed an elec metallic blue chim with bonnet up on M6 (somewhere round Chorley I think) sorry I didn't stop - had a passenger and saw you v. late as I whizzed by - hope you got fixed up
