Chimaera high mileage
Discussion
No experience of owning a TVR but the Rover engine is a long-lasting unit and in its high state of tune in a TVR can last for high mileages if it has been maintained and serviced correctly (goes for any engine really).
Don't constantly rev the b*ll*cks off it, do change the oil regularly, and generally have a bit of 'mechanical sympathy'.
Obviously can't speak for your car but how long have you had it? Do you know the history? Has it had a few new parts (major) recently? Would you say it is in good all-round condition or does it feel ' a little tired'? What's the service history like?
All IMO of course.

I know a guy with a seriously high milage Griff and he has very few problems, whereas I know very low milage cars that are always off the road. If your happy with the car and its performance keep it. You have probably already done more milage than alot of people seem to be willing to take on,(mad in my opinion) and if you tried to trade in you'd get peanuts.
I plan to keep my Griff and I'd rather enjoy the car than worry about how many miles I'm doing.
Cheers Dan

I've got a 52k 1993L 4.0 Chim which will be doing at least 20-25k per year until i) it breaks or ii) I find the right 5.0 to upgrade to!!! (Black with Black Leather/Carpets please).
From what I've read on here it tends to be the low-mileage-used-once-a-month-and-thrashed-when-cold TVR's that have problems.
I bought my TVR for a sensible price, and purposefully bought one that wasn't absolutely mint. It seemed to me that there was little point in buying a low mileage concours condition car to use every day.
With a little bit of luck mine will prove to be reliable, although the downside is that I will probably get peanuts for it when I come to change.
What I want to know is if I get to 100k, or 150k will the factory give me i) a medal and ii) a free service?!!!

up the iron,
No I have not had big bills , I just make sure that every thing is greased , tight and have a good service from either Dave Connelly in N. Ireland or Noel Flannery V8 Sports & Classic Scotland .
I had a 3000M before , and i did all the servicing to her , I do the brakes and am about to change the rear wishbones and bushes in the next few weeks .
