Not had my Chimaera 4l long and bit wary of power. Can anyone tell me what revs to build up before letting clutch out for quick acceleration from stop. Don't want to make a prat of myself at lights etc. Thanks.

Probably not the quickest way to get away, but on my 4.0 I find it will move away from tickover, then, as you start moving feed in revs while lifting clutch. At this point you have 2 options:
1. Let clutch right out and gently accelerate, this will leave most cars behind.
2. Let clutch right out...FLOOR IT...this should light up the rears deafen anyone within 500 yards and fill the street with smoke

Obviously option 1 is preferred.

To be honest (I posted the thread in the General TVR section about what to do on tail slides) it is easy to forget how much faster you end up going. Even modest revs and you will find that you can out-run most average cars...

I have been taking it easy and found that you can make progress with only relatively small throttle applications. Cant wait until we dry out and loose the mud / crud from the roads. Then you can start to use more power, but in the meantime you would be suprised as to how quickly you can end up going even in the current wintery conditions.

Cheers,

Paul

I test drove my first 4l last weekend and thought I was really pushing it - I then glanced down and was only doing about 3200rpm!!!!

Sounds better than my first test drive where the car was running out of petrol and the dealer refused to fill it up ....but even so the car was Very quick...Plan to go to another dealer as soon as I get the time.

Slightly more seriously (and only slightly - I'm in one of those moods! ) pbrettle is right, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly you do travel in a shrot distance even driving carefully.
From a standing start, in the damp, on a roundabout at the beginning of a motorway slip road, you can almost be touching 3 figures by the time you come to join the main carriageway - I'm told.
Just take it easy, get used to it, and wait for the roads to dry out, get the roof off and the 'baby' 4 litre at about 4k revs in second gear never sounded better!

Hmm, I remmember when I picked my Chim up, came off the slip road onto the M40 and was doing 120, I wasn't even trying, esp as it was only the second time I drove the car!!

I passed the glorious 1000 mile mark just before Chirstmas and then passed the 1500 mile mark shortly afterwards.

Driving from the Ross On Wye area to Stow on the wold nice relaxed bend then about a 1 mile straight, lovely visibility, dry road and nothing for miles in either direction.

In all my days I have never ever ever seen 3 figures come up quite so quickly, and then I discovered more pedal travel.

In summary, they're scarily fast and I would stick to the golden rule I was told when I picked mine up...

'Dont even think about booting it until you're in 3rd!'

Matt.
