Not content with finding problems with my pride and joy, I now feel forced to ask a question about a distinct benefit ...

Why does my 9000 mile 2000W Chimaera 500 refuse to drink oil? When I bought the car 4000 miles ago, I duly stocked up on several litres of Mobil 1 Motorsport oil, but in 4000 miles of hard driving (road use only) it has only used about 1 litre of oil. Not that I'm complaining, but should this be cause for concern; everybody elses TVRs seem to use alot more?

I guess they are all a bit different. I've only done 1000 miles in my 13000 mile Griff and it has used about 1/4 litre - so the same as you. Be happy!

Can't see it being a problem - more a blessing,
maybe one built to tighter tolerances on all bearing shells, etc!
My Chim 500 seem to use a litre or so per 1000 miles
maybe more but then it is this very thin 0/40 Mobil crap.
Gonna change to Mobil1 Motorsport at next service - already booked in and have oil 15/50 should hopefully be better and retain better viscosity when hot. My oil
pressure is fine even on the 0/40 (runny stuff!)

Hi - my 450 had done 4K miles when I bought it in October. 2K later the oil is still on the max mark on the dipstick, so my expensive can of Mobil 1 remains unopened!

My 500 doesn't drink much oil either, so I don't think its true that they all have an appetite for oil.
