Just been for a One to One instruction day with International Drivers Club on an Airfield in Leicester.
It was great fun and I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience fish-tailing, slides and full 360 degree spins. Half the track was ice the other half snow, as it cleared it became even more challenging with sideways drifts that would then bite on patches of tarmac.
Best fun I had in ages.
Because there was far less traction I was able to experience much more car "control" !! at lesser speeds.
Managed a few fast laps at the end and couldn't believe how the Chimp handled.
If anyone wants to go - don't wait for the weather to improve, it's great fun now. I've got email and phone numbers if anyone is interested.
I'm definetly going to go back in the summer for another "fix"

Sounds like fun - how much was it and do they have a web site?

I've just got back from another session with these guys and can fully endorse everything that markgt said about it being both a great learning opportunity and a funday out. My only problem was that Mark had used up all the snow and ice except for a small amount still left on the top corner. Maybe the temperature had something to do with that as well. Didn't stop me having a couple of spins though .

s3 bob, you can find out more about them on www.id-club.com which has contact e-mail addresses and phone numbers. The cost varies depending on what you want to do as they offer various different packages so best to speak to them. As a guide, you can opt for 2.5 hours continuous track time with intensive training from Jay Shepherd (Tuscan Challenge) alongside you in your own car; they will take on any level. The last price for this was £250.

Hope this helps, give it a try. The hardest bit about it all is getting the grin off your face afterwards.

Thanks for the info.
£250 = 2 trackdays, 3 airfield days or a session with these guys - my head says one thing, but my heart says something else!
2.5 hours seems quite a long time, I know from trackdays that I feel knackered after about 20 minutes!
