Chim Test drive and Hire
Discussion
After 12 months of reading this website and lusting after a chim I finally went and test drove one !! :-)The only thing that spoiled my experience was the fact the car was running out of petrol and the dealer refused to stop and fill the car up??. still I have to say that it was not enough to stop me from thinking it was fantastic to drive.
As the car is going to be my only car for a while I would like to know if anyone can recommend a garage where I can hire a Chim for a weekend so that I can see If it really is as practical and as easy to drive as I keep telling the missus - bearing in mind that I am under 30...but only just!!:-)...and i live in south London.
Thanks in advance
Ian

www.bespokes.co.uk hire TVR's as I hired a Griff 500 from them two years ago. I'm sure they would do a Chim as well. They were based in Elstree, Bushey way but may have moved. Check their site.
The TVR Centre in Barnet hire out TVRs as well. But they are obviously in North London. Check their site: www.the-tvr-centre.co.uk (I think).
There may be dealers south of the river who hire out – Mole Valley etc, but you'd have to ring them to check.
You'll have a great time whatever and wherever you get it from I'm sure.

I would suggest a trip to Adrian Blyth's place near Hindhead, not far from Guildford. I bought my Chim last July from him after a good 30 min test drive. Here's the web site www.adrianblyth.co.uk/ .
It's best you pick a dry and if possible a warm day. With cold tyres, a road covered in salt, wet patches and your lack of TVR driving you will stuggle to enjoy the car. Sorry to be blunt, but driving even a 4.0 takes some care.
Before you buy visit a local TVR car club meeting and find the mechanic they use. Buy this guy a few beers and have them check out the car.
If I can help further please mail me. I was in your situation six months ago and learnt a great deal since.

Marlboro,
I often view Adrian Blyth's website - you were obviously happy wth your purchase - he seems to get a good write-up generally on this forum - would you agree?
