Happy New Year everyone!

Just wanted to say that on my first long Tiv journey in a very long time, I drove a total of 600 miles this weekend, most of the time I may have even been breaking the speed limit of our national motorways. I drove through snow, started the car when practically frozen the next day and went through buckets loads of petrol.

Not one glitch! Not one problem! The beast didn't fail me at all! Didn't even slip on the ice! I'm so pleased!

Only things I needed to do was check the oil... needed to add about half a litre after the trip and fill up the anti-freeze/coolant.

I even took the roof down today when I got home and froze my ears off. Have a good one all!

I too will tempt fate...did the best part of 1500 miles in 4 days over Xmas, largely made up of 3 long runs with a few quick blasts to scare old school mates, neighbours, my family, anyone really (not that I was showing off you understand!)

Other than oil (surprisingly little), petrol (lots) tyres (holy shit!) and the fact I'm getting close to a service, no problems.

Apart from cold feet at certain not-so-legal speeds. Any idea's anyone? And I don't mean a thick pair of socks....

Cold feet, check the circular heater outlet vents towards the front of the transmission tunnel. Are they open, easy to miss.

But they're meant to be heated just like the air from the other vents. Or at least mine are...

On my car there is one vent underneath on the transmission tunnel side which blows warm air (close in summer!) and one on the right hand side with blows air in at the outside temperature (also controlled by the aux fan if you have it). This blows a freezing gale all the time at this time of year - check it's closed if you have one.

ChimWolf,

Yep I too went from London to Wales this Christmas with no issues at all, and then onto Devon, Somerset and Gloucester all trouble free!

So, if there are any potential buyers reading this, see, they are not as unreliable as people tell you!!

Matt.

I think most of the reliability concerns aired are to do with the later cars. Other than teething troubles, I think the Chimaera & Griffiths have been proven reliable over the years.

hehe left London on December 20th and have covered 2000 miles since then... and the car seem to love the French motorways. Another 1000 miles will be covered by the time we get home this week end. That'll be over 4000 miles covered in just over 5 weeks of TVR owership Lovin' every minnute of it.
Cheers

It'd good to see tales of trouble free motoring for once! As Matt says, they're not as unreliable as they sound, it's just human nature to complain when something goes wrong but to keep quiet when it all goes well!

Hope you all had a brilliant New Years!
