Took the car for a blast, like you do. No windscreen washers.

With the engine off, I can't hear the washer pump (though I don't remember hearing it when it was working anyway). Cursory check of fuses suggests all OK though there's no specific fuse marked whether in the handbook or Steve Heath's book on which fuse protects the pump. Anyone any experience in this area as to what might be wrong?

All help much appreciated.

The washer is normally fused with the wipers so if they are working I suspect it is not something like a fuse or relay. Could be a dead motor... they do die. The motor is built into the washer bottle and so you might need a complete unit. Put a volt meter to on the connector to see if there is volts coming through. If so then the motor looks like it has died.

Thanks Steve.

Now all I need to do is get the mesh grille off -- which is glued in with Isopon (don't ask!).

Right, done that, grille off, wires checked for current -- yes --motor checked for operation -- no. Can't seem to find a dealer open who can replace said component.

Is it a standard or a TVR part? Is the pump replaceable without the bottle?

Final instalment: Fernhurst replaced the bottle assembly last Saturday morning -- hats off to them for fast courteous experience. Including labour, parts plus a new air filter and wipers, cost was 90 quid. Bit of a bargain imho.
