Cluncky diff...pain in the arse!
Discussion
My diff or half-shafts are worn. After a fast run, setting off from junctions makes the rear of the car do a regular clunking sort of noise, which then disappears.
Anyone know what the half shafts and diff are off (Its got the Rover gearbox). Where I can get it reconditioned and how much etc?
Cheers

The bits are off another TVR. The diff is probably a GKN special made for TVR but a decent diff place should be able to recon for a good few hundred. The halfshaft and CV joints are all uprated bits so TVR are probably the best source as you don';t want to fit Sierra one and snap them at the next set of lights.
The clunking could also be caused by a loose diff mount/mounting bolts or suspension bolts or worn bushes. Worth chceking before shelling out a lot of money.

Sounds exactly like worn CV joints, which are cheap and easy to replace. Better hope so because if it really is the diff you have about 600 squid in parts plus a lot of labour to look forward to.
