I have a 96N chimp, with which i suddenly have a prob with my cooling fans !!??....
The Otter switch seems to be working fine, and if i short across the switch i can hear the relay clicking, giving me the impression that that is also working ?!....
But the fans are not comming on ?? Ive even checked the fuse (far left is for cooling fans apparently) and although its only a 25 amper it is fine !!
Any ideas guys/girls ??.....They were working fine yesterday !!

Does the horn work ? If not, it can be a fuse.
There are two fuses for the fans ??(i think)

Does the swirl pot thing expand properly ?

Duff relay. It works but the contacts don't! Your car may have the 40 AMP fan fuse configuration. Worth chceking as these fuses are hard to get except from a TVR dealer.

Hi Steve.... at the moment the fuse inserted is 25 amp and hasnt blown ??.. providing of course im looking at the right one, which according to the book i am ??
I'll try yr idea with a new relay and see if that sorts it !!... like i said i can here it clicking but that may not be enough !!
Do the fans themselves "burn out" often ??.... or is it too much of a coincidence for them both to stop working at the same time ??

Cheers.... Steve.

The problem is that TVR have changed the fuse layout more than once and it is worth checking with the layout in the owner's hanbook. It may be different. The 40 amp method was changed around the time of your car.
If you have any 40 amp fuses, then they were only used for the fans so check it.

It is unlikely that both fans have siezed but it did happen to me once on the 520. Easy enough to check. First can you turn the blades by hand? If no, then dead fan as the motor has siezed. If yes then disconnect and apply 12 volts directly to the fan and see if it turns over.

Lucas seem to stock them if you can find one of their service centres. I bought a handful of them.
