Speedo & Tacho Lights Out
Discussion
Its finally come to it I have no lights on either the speedo or the tacho !
After a small blast round southeast Hants / West Dorset, I put the lights on and I could see forward but had great difficulty seeing the more important instruments. The speedo light has been out since I bought the car and now both tacho lights have gone - its like driving with the instrument illumination switch off . I'm down to listening to the pitch of the engine note to find out how fast I'm going once it gets dark (about 4 oc). Come to think of it thats probalbly not a bad idea as I like the engine note .
How do I get the off side part of the dash out to replace the bulbs

Bob,
Taking the dash out can be a real pain......
What about one of those miner type hardhats with the built in torch. Should also improve on external forward vision, assuming you are still using the standard Joe Lucas "Prince of Darkness" headlamp units.
May be as well to remember to remove it when filling up with fuel, or your eccentricity rating may soar!!
Seriously though, I hope you get it sorted soon!

Thanks Preston. I have found the link - looks a bit of a b****r with fiddling about in the foot well.
I am still using the standard Lucas units and it is a bit difficult to see ! The use of a head mounted lamp may be of use, I will give it a try. It will definitely be useful whilst wedged in the foot well!
