I've recently noticed that at full lock, one or both of the front wheels on my Chimaera tend to scuff/skate over the ground rather than simple roll. I'm not sure whether this has always been the case but I have only noticed recently whilst parking in icy conditions and also in a multi-storey. In normal driving, the tracking and suspension geometry feels completely fine and tyre wear is even.

Is this normal behaviour, or should I get the beast examined?

Interesting thing is that my Chimaera has just started to do this - it never used to. Why should is suddenly start? - maybe I need to change the tyres?

Spooky! Mine has just started to do this too. Mind you, I did just get my wheels realigned. Now when I reverse will full right lock it sort of bumps up and down. Very strange...

Me too! Mine started around 9000 miles. I thought that maybe there was a like a stop block that stops you over doing it with the lock (please excuse my rather splendid grasp of all things mechanical) and it had fallen off.

Probably just the fact that the rubber is cold (i.e. hard) and the tarmac is more slippery, so the car loses grip and 'understeers' at very low speed.

I've just had a 4-wheel alignment check and mine does it too.

i think it is to do with the "ackerman angle" which is designed in to the steering which trys to allow for the fact that when you are turning, the inner wheel needs to turn at a tighter angle than the outer wheel. which i think is almost imposable. what happens is that the outer wheel needs to travel more distance in the same rpm as the inner wheel. this means that they scrub and slide at low speed on full lock. anyway you should only need full lock when correcting a power slide,so whats the problem?
have fun

This is interesting. My 450 I bought five weeks ago does scuff. It also pulls to the right under hard acceleration. I am taking it to crawly tommorow for a four wheel alingement which I am told will sort out the right hand pulling.
