Shuddering over 100mph...

Guys n' gals,
Has anyone else experienced this before? When driving over 100 - 110 mph, the beast seems to shudder, a bit like a fiesta when you take it to about 80. It might just be when it gets to that point of resonance or whatever it is, so I think I should take it to about 140 just to see if it's alright.
No, on a serious note, my last Chim never had this problem. Very strange!

Exactly, not that anyone would ever do that kind of speed on a public road, I was of course referring to the fact that 'if I were' to drive at that speed, 'it would' shudder!
Maybe it's just because of my drivers side window - it's a bit loose and shakes like a b@stard even at low speeds!

Most common cause is tyres out of balance or flat spotted so that they cause oscillations. Sometimes rebalancing cures the problem sometrimes replacement is the only way forward. It could also be a sign that there is something not right with the suspension.

One thing to look at is the balancing and tracking, if they are slightly out on any car then the car will shudder and vibrate at a certain speed, if you go above that speed then the shuddering should stop. Try it and see 
then if this is the case get the wheels rebalanced and the tracking done.

I remember I read a post recently explaining that geometry for TVR could not be done anywhere as only a few places have the details of the factory recommended settings. I assume main dealer will be equiped to do this, but surely there must be a specialist as well... Fernies?

Then possibly find some other problem with the car that needs fixing ? Any Tyre fitter can check Balancing/Tracking (or they can round here) sometimes about £4 a wheel.
By the way, mine does seem a little unhappy at about 110, but take it to 120-130 and its quite happy (does feel light tho) - All on my Private test track of course
When I was having my splitter refitted (called a splitter, by the way, because at the first sign of trouble that's exactly what it does) one of the blokes at Waldenway said it was really quite important for high speed stability. Not having a splitter isn't going to cause any vibrations, but if your steering is getting light for the sake of a few quid its probably worth fitting one.
what do you call a splitter? Is this the low-ish air-spoiler that are now fitted on the Tamora and the TuscanS ? Apologies for my ignorance... 
Maybe it is all of the kerbs that I hit, but I have had loads of trouble with wheel balancing! Worst case was a brand new VW Golf GTi that you couldnt driver over 60 - decent wheel balancing sorted that out (not until the leasing company was threatened with the car being rejected!!!).
However, it is amazing how much difference a balance and geometry check can make. Strangely the wear on the tyres can also make a big difference. As they get closer to replacement they get harder and harder to balance right. Replace them with new ones and it is wonderful... Because everything happens so gradually it is almost un-noticeable. Until the change that is.
Also punted a Golf GTi (different one, though there seems to be a pattern here) into a kerb at a Burger King once, needed a Laser Line check on the chassis! This was only £150 - £200 a few years ago and nothing needed doing anyway. But either way it shouldnt be expensive. Basically they get some lasers and place them on the chassis and shine them to points at the other end - this can then give them a guide to locate if something is out or bent at all.... done properly it is actually very good. Prevents that crab effect that you keep seeing old minis having.
