Bleedin' hell, I was insuring VW Polo 1.3 at 21.... Bugger. Couldnt afford to think of a TVR then! Mind you, probably would have killed myself by now if I had.

Cheers,

Paul

I’m 23 and insure my S with heritage, but its not my main car, its on their future classics policy which it cost me £800 fully comp limited to 3000 miles, it then cost £150 to add another 2000 miles at a later date.

The problem is not many of the TVR specialists insure under 25’s, what are you getting 4 or 5litre?

From what I have found it varies enormously place to place.

My circumstances are as follows

29, 3 years NCB, 2001 Chim 450, 10 years UK license, no accidents, claims or convictions, no points, IAM cert, ROSPA cert, West London, Garaged.

Elephant £5059
DirectLine £1829 (needs Tracker)
Privilege £1825 (needs Tracker)
Tesco £1749 (needs Tracker)

I am still with my works policy, until someone can beat that.

A mate who is 23 tried a quote on a Cerbera 4.5 parked on the street in Tower Hamlets. He also has a claim and 3 points. They quoted him £13K, which while not very nice for him, provided the rest of us with much merriment!

Matt.

Thanks for that jna, I'll check them both.

I am paying £1200 at the moment through work, which doesnt seem to bad, but if I can get it beaten then I will!

Is your portfolio with A Manning?

As I have the Tiv, the Mini, a ZX6R and a Triumph 5TA to cover as well due to 'er indoors being a bike nut.

Thanks again.

Matt.

Me & my wife (both 23) are insured on a 4.2 Cerbera (parked on the street) fully comp with unlimited mielage for £1600. Thats through Tesco insurance (part of privilidge), but Admiral might be worth a call as well.

It may be cheaper to buy a cheapy car and insure the TVR as a second car, it did for me, also means I have a runabout for driving to the station, just a thought.

RCA,

I had my first 4.0 at 21 and I was paying £2,400 with 4 years NCB. That was through Privilage.

Good luck!

Have you had a look at the TVR insurance guide at:

www.tvr-webmart.co.uk/tvr_guide_insurance.html

It gives a list of quotes that other drivers have been given for their cars and lists the insurance companies they are with. It's worth calling round those companies especially those quoting for the younger drivers (unfortunately the youngest on the list is 24).

Previous performance car experience quite often comes in to the picture so go shop around. Also worth trying those companies (and web-sites) that do the shopping round for you like AA... gives you a good starting point.

Tried Tesco for a quote on-line, got as far as "convictions" before I discovered they won't quote if you have more than 2. Ditto accidents.

If your licence has been shot through by Gatso broadsides like mine, forget it.
