Are you sitting comfortably...
Long, long time a go....My 500-99/T blow its cylinder head, and had to go back to TVR power for some head mods. Heads Return, Car fine. Now, since then ( 20K miles ago ), my much loved car has blown just about every water pipe/gaskit/radiator. The garage, have tried their absolute best ( If you are reading this guys - your help is greatly appreciated ) to find the underlying cause, but, on average we seem to do 1-2K miles before it leaves me beside the road ( time for shares in the RAC ). Its been in now 10-12 times just on water problems. The car has been checked and rechecked ( heads/water pressure/leaks ) but it always comes back with the failure found and fixed, but obviously not the cause ( or it wouldnt keep going in ).

My suspisions are that the heads ( having been modified ) are somehow - under 'hot' conditions - creating excessive pressure, forcing something to fail, it has to come out somewhere. Hot spots, blocked , Dunno

So fellow TVR fans - Any ideas ? - Any similar experiences - Any Advice. There seems to be no legitamate reason to insist that TVR Power undo/refit the problem that I believe was placed there, so any similar advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards, and lets hope the weather is good for a top-down-weekend...

Gazza,

I can think of only two reasons for blowing the pipes etc.. Both obviously due to too much pressure - either the pressure cap on the swirl pot is not opening to release the pressure (but I guess your dealer would have checked that), or the cooling system is getting pressurised by a leaking head gasket. It could be that this is pressurising the cooling system more than the pressure cap can release.

I guess that you might be able to do a compression check and that might tell you.

Just my guesses - very far from being an expert.

Mike.
