After 4 years of TVR ownership earlier this year, My wife had a baby and trips out in the TVR as family are a no no, She has a MX5, so talk about suitable cars.. any has anyone ever been able to safely fit a Child car seat on the shelf behind the seats, It is fairly deep and the Chassis tubes do allow a 4 point harness to be fitted for racing, the seat fits easily between the seats..but ... Just wanted to know if anyone else had done it and be able to pass on some tips..Is it legal?? etc.. Cant justify a Cerbera as the roof does'nt come off and it costs a bomb to run..

I don't think this will be legal. The car's registration and insurance documents probably state it's for 2 people.

Behind seats are a no-no, but certainly the seats are OK for taking a decent frame type child seat. Now, you have to be careful as leather seats are a little slippery compared to normal style, but it does work and it actually quite safe.

My 8 month old loves the Chimaera as he can see out and touch things. However, as I said before - behind seats is a no-no and probably illegal.

Cheers,

Paul

Surely the first question should have been:-
"we have two 2 seater rag tops and a baby which is obviously not practical, so what 4 seater do you want darling?"

I'll get my coat.

i think it might be a bit of a grey area legaly but it would be safe as long as you fixed the seat to something strong enough
