Dunno if anyone here watched Driven tonight? They had a Tuscan up against the new Porsche 911 and a Ferrari...

Obviously TVR won on most categories and overall, but it has now put me in a very bad situation.

I want one.

Must have a Tuscan. Never thought I'd ever let it replace my Chim, but I must have one... help me...

it didn't quite win in all categories:

it won cost of ownership + desirability

Porker won on handling (10% faster round the track) and practicality

OOoo - picky,

And precisely how many cars win all categories on Drivel? The most important thing is that it WON - thats right WON, not second and not third - but WON.....

Nice for Drivel to put the cost of running it into perspective too. £800 for a headlamp? Christ on a bike - I though that the Clio Sport with Xenon lamps at £300 was daylight robbery.... maybe all that technology isnt worth it after all.

Still lets all of the scuzers know how to do the most damage (money wise) to a Porsche and Ferrari... thanks chaps.

Cheers,

Paul

Oh, and best way to get £48K - get insurance, chop off arm and claim it was an accident - that should cover the £48K needed.

Only problem being the lack of an arm..

Ahhh but this is the same contest that we deride each week for being a waste of space.

OK So we all love the Tuscan S - Me included. Do they do one with a paddle gear change, if so I could get one for my father - he broken his left wrist and cannot cope with a notchy TCR box (iAs if I could afford two !!!! - I wish)
I will stick with my Chimaera as that is all I can afford and enjoy it as often as possible. Blatting around south Dorset with the top down in drizzle is OK by me. Has anyone noticed how drivers of other soft tops don't put the top down, however most Chimaeras & Griffiths sem to go top down !

It was pretty bloody obvious that none of the Honda funded, Jordan technicians were going to vote in favour of the ferrari!!

So odd when autocar has a Tuscan S beating a 911 GT2, and a Boxster S beating a Tuscan?? All seems a bit messed up.

You've got to admit though the Porsche whooped all asses round that track (almost 10% faster than the tuscan)

Benno,

Only because it had four wheel drive and a twat at the wheel who couldn't get the power down in the Tuscan and just wanted to smoke the tyres.

I wonder what would have happened if Plato was allowed to drive ? Nah.. the TVR might have won by a bigger margin.

And as for Puny Mammory - pointing out that a you might need a new tyre for the 911 if you boot it - less likely with FWD than on the other two methinks.

Ho Hum.

And as for a 10K option Mr Brewer, what about a V8S ?

'old on a cotton-pickin' minute... Cool, the Tuscan S "won", which raised a laugh and two fingers in our household, and based on the criteria so it should have done. But come on guys, do we only like the program when they like the cars we like? Everyone wuz slaggin' Driven off when they didn't like the Tamora...

The difference is they drove the cars this week rather than p*ss and fart at them like last time. And what about the practicality test about boot space, you could fit a horse in Tiv, but the porker bonnet box is certainly no good for a set of golf clubs or anything else remotely non-square.

So all TVR drivers are as good as Plato then are they ? The Chim who tried to blow me away on the (damp) A52 yesterday might have got away quicker than I did, but he spent the next 300yds trying to get all four wheels pointing in the same direction. I've yet to see anyone get the power down as readily in a Tiv as in a Porker.
As seen in my comments elsewhere I love Tivs, but the attitude of their owners/wannabe owners is getting tiresome. They're not the best cars in the world, just the most fun !
Front Wheel Drive 911 ? Odd. Praps you meant 4WD ?

foggy,

you're right no space for golf clubs in a 911.

no space for 2 kids in the back of a Tuscan though, thats why i could not have one!!

winning on driven means nothing. the criteria are totally pointless with this class of car, and the presenters are awful. last night was the first time i've seen an episode all the way through. i presume the tests are aimed at euroboxes.

as for track testing, why was it a tuscan s and not an r? would have put them all in a more even price range too, but would have shown the best of each marque. and the r would have torn the others apart if driven properly.

ah well, i'll be sticking with my 4.0 chimp for now. well, the next couple of months anyway.

Horses for courses, I have golf clubs but no kids.

But I don't have a Tiv as yet, but I am working on it. Can all the prospective owners of Tamoras keep them in good fettle as I will have one when it has been nicely run in.

i have no golf clubs..

but to be honest we have a young child, and the dimensions of the obligatory pushchair are similiar, and funnily enough nobody seems to make a pushcair that fold in to a cubiod, to fit the stupid shape 911 boot.

Well, that is apart from Porsche whom want £499 for the privelidge!

Calm down, I'm having a pop at Drivel, not Porkers. I can appreciate all performance cars and rate Porsches highly - in fact I nearly bought a LHD (left hand drive) 911 from a guy at work for and every day runabout when I bought my S3c and gave up the company Audi.

Porsches are generally accepted to be the better everyday car and the average driver will get the power down better with the aid of electronics - but that seemed at odds with an out and out perfomance test by the jelly munchers.

Cheers,
JSG.

Oh yeah, and I do spell 4 with a F - sorry for the confusion.

OK then JSG-didn't intend to offend you ! I agree wholeheartedly with everyone's view of Drivel. I just wish everyone else would stop picking on my car just because they hate the prog.
Toys now firmly back in pram.

This made no sense whatsoever b4 I edited it-conclusive proof Porker owners are thick !

The Autocar test showed the Boxster S beat the original Tuscan, with its squidgy rear suspension. The suspension has been sorted on the Tuscan S, hence the different result.

And the insurance will cost you an arm and a leg.
So that leaves you with one leg to drive the Tuscan
