clear front indicators & large wheels
Discussion
Anyone enquired about fitting the 2001 spec clear indicators on their chim...
Spoke to a dealer that quoted £560 ex vat for the conversion...apparently it involves a lot of rewiring....
Also whats the largest wheel size that can go on a chim, am thinking of fitting 17's on the fronts and 18s at the rear.
Is this possible?

That can only be utter bollocks. Re-wiring? Ha ha ha ha. Name and, er, redicule...
When I asked my dealer about the fronts, they said the biggest problem was likely to be that the existing indicators are bonded to the bodyshell, and might be beastly to get off. As for the rears, it all depends on what's already there, you know, fiesta cluster, four round thingys, etc. But even changing those for something like Clive's afterburners doesn't require complex wiring hilarity.

Just fitted RC penta polished rim alloys in 17" on my chim for 900 quid all inc. look the doggies. if you get the nutty car mags, max power etc there are companies such as Elite in rainham essex that will try anything u want - good job guys, 215-50-17 on front and 235-45-17 on back (to keep gearing profile) cant find number at moment 18's were bit tight at front and another 500!!!. Front indicators were sourced through lucas local shop £13 inc each, does mean u have to make a new mesh if you have a pre 96 model like me, but i did the large grill out of ally mesh also so it matched( holed style aka boy racer £15 local shop) looks the nuts also. good luck N945 flc chim 4.0
I tried at least 8 different type of wheel and couldnt decide, some 22 stone geezer of an ethnic origin covered in gold ( Buster rhymes rapper?)came up to me and said the 5 spokes look the ******* nads mate, I agreed and left sideways up the road (after paying of course, as I am a law abiding citizen!)
Bling, I assume you mean the clear glass eyeball type indicators as fitted to recent Tuscans and Tamoras (as opposed to the plastic cover type but in clear)? I've no idea what's involved but I agree they do look good.
Regards wheels, my Griffith has 17" front and 18" rears which personally I think look good on the Griff which has odd sized wheels as standard but as the Chimaera has similar sized wheels all round I think you would be better off with 17" jobs in all 4 corners.

Following up on the clear front indicator idea, check out this thread on a similar theme from a few months ago, seems Clive "Zertec" Reed has a cunning plan

I see that www.tvrbodyshop.com offer this (under their 'Bodyshop', 'Prices', 'White Front Indicator' selections) for £130.41 + VAT.
Must be a little more to it than just swapping lenses if there'e 2 hours of labour! unless they want to put you off doing it yourself!!!
It would be interesting to see if anyone else offers similar as I'm not planning on heading down to Bristol for the foreseeable future.

i'm looking at getting a set of clear front indicators for my dads chimaera 500. Spoke to the guys' at TMS who were very helpful. They tell me its just a matter of breaking the existing bond, replacing the bulb with a clear one(obviously)and bonding the new lens in. They talked about 12 quid each for the lens and a couple of quid each for the bulbs, not to sure on labour cost
cheers
