Fuel pump... occasionally noisy on startup (say for 10 seconds) but apart from that, nada.
Except one day last summer, just prior to the failure of my throttle pot, when I could hear it full time, with the top down over the noise of the exhaust! It's never done that again though... mind you, it's never been as hot as it was that day.

My fuel pump has been noisy recently, so would be interested to hear other owners comments.
If the pump is cavitating this produces a nasty rattling/knocking sound, this can lead to pump failure. Cavitation is more likely if the fuel level is low, and/or the engine (and hence fuel return flow) is hot and/or the pre-filter inside the tank is blocked.
Hope this isn't your problem,

I had my fuel pump replaced a few years ago as it had become really noisy. No problems since (I had no filter problems).
If you hear the pump prime when you turn the key and can only just hear it in the background when the engine is running that sounds about right. Any more noise from it then look at Peter's comments below or you may just need a new pump (apparently they used 2 types - one cheap and one expensive ... guess which mine was).

About the alarm, I had the same problem...
You may find it'll start going off on its own for no apparent reason.
Usually means that the siren unit needs replacing. If it's still under warranty the dealer should be able to do it for you in under an hour.

Had the siren (meta ) replaced about 2 months ago as the original unit got wet and started going off continuously and i was unable to switch it off !! - much to the amusement of my neighbours !!....NOT !!
However this one has now started chirping every now and then when i open the car ??? - I cant deduce a pattern at the mo - just hope it doesnt start going off again !!!

ha ha, this happened to me too surfer, I pulled the connector off the siren expecting it to go off and it didn't! the only way I could shut it up was to drop it into a bucket of water. Took it out the next day and off it went again! Apparently water runs down the bonnet onto the siren and seeps in thus buggering
sorry to bring this one back up but thought i should mention this. to all those with chirps or had chirps check siren actually goes off! mine doesn't any more lights flash but no noise NOT GOOD!. is covered under warranty and goes in Saturday. easy to check hold Button on alarm fob on for six seconds to activate panic attack alarm.
went to dealer today got a new siren and problem solved !! (for the moment anyway) chirps apparently meen dogey switch contact somewhere on alarm or siren full of water and about to die mine latter of two . unfortunatly it is a one off those tvr things sir that happen luckily mine still on warranty sorted in 10 minutes.
