Ignition dead spot.
Discussion
The last few days my car has been cutting out just after firing, but not always, most of the time it fires and runs perfectly.
This morning I actually realised what was going on.
On the ignition barrel lock (not sure if thats its proper name) somewhere between the point where the ignition first comes on and the point where the starter motor fires there seems to a dead spot.
So after the key springs back to the normal ignition 'on' position after being in the starter motor trigger position, it sometimes falls back to the dead spot position.
As the ignition isn't on at this point the engine just cuts out.
Has anyone else suffered this problem, if so what was the solution? A new key mechanism, rufurbish the old one? I'd love it if it was something I sort out myself.
Any help appreciated...
