When stationary with the engine running in my newly acquired 450 I can hear a whirring noise with a faint rattle that disappears when the clutch pedal is depressed. Is this normal for Chimaeras or should I mention it to the dealer? The clutch doesn't slip at all.

The car has only done 4k miles; I have had it a couple of weeks and have done approx. 300 miles with no other problems, apart from the windscreen washer tubing snapping off the plastic connecting nozzle on the bulkhead on the drivers side. The tubing connected to the wipers seems to be cut very short!

Sounds like the thrust release bearing although they don't normally go at that sort of mileage, but it depends on the previous owner.

Yep, sounds like the thrust bearing - not a big deal. Annoying though. Mine has done it on and off for 20,000 miles (it's gone quiet again recently, in fact I don't think I've noticed it in ages - strange). Guess the clutch will need replacing one day soon and it'll get changed the(currently at 45,000 miles).

4,000 is a bit low for such a problem though. Who was the last owner? Captain wheelspin?

I had a weird noise comming from my clutch. A kinda grinding noise, sounded a bit like a crunch when I pressed the clutch. It started off happening rarely and then got worse.

The dealer fixed it, but now it's started happening again. Does anyone know if there's anything that might simply need a bit of WD40?

Thanks,

My Chimaera 500 has done exactly the same since I got it at about 5000 miles. I've asked around and had the usual 'they all do that sir' type replies. If the car drives well, I wouldn't worry about it - it's all too easy to chase 'unusual noises' with TVRs - they come, they go - don't lose any sleep about it until it breaks properly!!!
